Machine Learning Engineer (NLP) [remote role, full-time or part-time]

  • Full-time

Company Description

How robust are supply chains in this age of globalisation?

Recent experience shows not nearly enough.

In the last year we've seen toilet roll stockpiling at the start of the pandemic...

Semiconductor shortages stopping smartphone or electric car production...

Evidence of Modern Slavery in the fashion industry supply chain...

Myriad shortages caused by the Suez Canal blockage...

Container ships queued outside ports for weeks due to lorry driver shortages...

Warnings of empty Christmas stockings…

An imperative to reach Net Zero.

At Versed AI we're helping companies take action to address these issues with AI-powered supply chain visibility to multiple levels.

Our tech is cutting edge AI (NLP & ML) that surfaces previously-unknown supplier relationships. Our customers use this insight to make better decisions and take meaningful action - improving their supply chain's resilience, environmental and ethical performance.

Spun out from our CTO's PhD research at Cambridge University, we're backed by Founders Factory, Innovate UK, the Royal Academy of Engineering and a member of Tech Nation's Applied AI 2021 cohort.

Job Description

We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer in Natural Language Processing to join our energetic and diverse team focused on building a brand-new innovative product. Our exciting technology collects large volumes of text data from the web and ingests this data through our NLP pipelines to extract supply chain relationships and insights, this is then aggregated into large knowledge graphs that provide our clients with highly valuable insights about their supply chain networks.

You will work closely with our CTO, data team, and our core engineering team in a supportive environment to help bring your ML models from the lab into the real world.

This is a pivotal role in our team. The recent global supply chain issues have increased demand for Versed AI’s data, accelerated our product roadmap and doubled the size of our development team in the last 6 months. We expect this high growth to continue, and you’ll have a key role in shaping the future of tech development at Versed AI.

If you’d like to make a big impact at an exciting, fast-growing start-up, we’d love to hear from you!

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop, train, and deploy machine learning models for text classification and information extraction
  • Help build and deploy NLP pipelines on cloud platforms
  • Particular focus on Named Entity Linking and Relation Extraction tasks.
  • Benchmark and measure the quality of the model’s predictions on data from various domains
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments in AI and NLP

Qualifications

  • Experience in common deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch and TensorFlow) is required
  • Experience in using modern NLP architectures (e.g. Transformers) is required
  • Prior experience in building information extraction systems (especially involving Named Entity Linking and Relation Extraction) is highly desirable
  • Experience in using NLP tools (e.g. spaCy) is desirable
  • Prior experience in using Amazon SageMaker or Google Colab is desirable
