Job Description

MS NOW Digital is seeking an Associate Producer for Original Video / Social Media to help shape smart, distinctive political news content.

This is a hands-on creative and editorial role for someone who lives and breathes politics, current events, and social media. The ideal candidate has strong editorial judgment, a sharp instinct for the stories and moments that will resonate, and a genuine passion for video editing and visual storytelling.

You know how to take a complicated political story, breaking-news moment, interview, or segment and quickly identify the clearest headline, strongest sound, and most compelling way to tell it across platforms.

You will help conceive, write, produce, and edit original content for digital platforms. You should be comfortable working independently, pitching fresh ideas daily, collaborating with show teams and reporters, and moving quickly when news breaks.

A strong knowledge of the MS NOW brand, shows, talent, and audience is essential. This role requires flexibility and a willingness to work nontraditional hours, including evenings and weekends, as news demands.

This position is represented by the Writers Guild of America East.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify the most compelling news moments, interviews, and segments to edit and package for platforms
  • Pitch, produce, and edit social packages and perspective content
  • React quickly to breaking news, producing accurate and compelling video content on deadline.
  • Produce and edit original, social-first video
  • Write clear, accurate, and eye-catching headlines, captions, and copy
  • Create editorial graphics and photo posts for Instagram and other platforms
  • Work closely with show producers, reporters, and the broader Digital team to identify and execute daily editorial opportunities
  • Curate news content on ms.now homepage and app as needed

Please note the hours for the role are below: 

Saturday, Sunday: 11am-7pm
Monday-Wednesday: 2pm-10pm
 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years experience in social media news production 
  • Demonstrable experience identifying and producing shareable/viral news and perspective content
  • Knowledge of all social media platforms, their audiences, and social media trends 
  • Expert editor with Adobe Premiere
  • Experience in turning breaking news vertical content for social platforms
  • Proficiency with digital gear (camera operations, microphones) 
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours and different shifts for breaking news 

Additional Job Requirements: 

  • Must be willing to work in New York, NY. 
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,000
