Job Description
Senior Product Manager, AI Platform – Equity Research
VERSANT is an independent, publicly traded company that brings together powerhouse brands such as CNBC, MS NOW (formerly MSNBC), USA Network, Oxygen, E!, SYFY, and Golf Channel, along with dynamic digital and direct-to-consumer brands such as Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, and GolfPass.
StockStory, part of CNBC and VERSANT, is building the next generation of AI-powered equity research for individual investors. We operate like a startup—a small team with high ownership, fast decisions, and direct access to leadership—while benefiting from the resources and long-term commitment of a well-capitalized public company.
Our mission is simple: help millions of individual investors make better investment decisions. We’re combining AI, institutional-quality investment research, proprietary data, and exceptional engineering to redefine how retail investors discover, research, and evaluate stocks.
We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager with deep experience building consumer investing, financial research, or market-data products to help us build a new generation of AI-powered equity research products.
This role sits at the intersection of consumer fintech, public equities, financial data, and AI. You will work with a high-caliber team that brings together top-tier engineering and buy-side investing talent, including analysts with prior experience at firms such as Millennium, Point72, and KKR.
In this role, you will own and shape core product experiences across our AI equity research platform, particularly products that help investors discover stocks, conduct research, compare opportunities, understand investment theses, and build conviction. These may include AI-powered research reports, stock recommendations, screeners and discovery tools, company pages, watchlists, portfolio insights, and conversational research experiences.
This is a hands-on product role for someone who wants to stay close to users, product details, data, and execution. You do not need to have worked professionally as an equity analyst, but you should be an active individual investor with strong public-markets fluency. You should understand how investors move from discovering a stock to researching the business, evaluating valuation and risk, comparing alternatives, and ultimately making an investment decision.
You will identify the highest-value customer problems, define product requirements, validate assumptions with users and data, and partner closely with Engineering, Design, Data, and Equity Research to ship experiences that make institutional-quality research accessible and actionable for a large retail investor audience.
The team is part of a new organization, which means you will have meaningful influence over both the products we build and the product culture we establish. We believe in deeply understanding customer needs and behaviors, empowering product teams to solve meaningful problems, shipping useful products quickly, and iterating based on real user feedback and behavior.
This is an opportunity to take significant ownership early and grow quickly as the platform and team scale.
What You’ll Do
- Own and evolve core stock research and discovery experiences across StockStory’s AI-powered investing platform.
- Develop a deep understanding of our users through regular interviews, usability testing, behavioral analysis, and other forms of product discovery.
- Study how individual investors discover ideas, research companies, evaluate financial performance and valuation, compare stocks, build conviction, monitor investments, and make buy/sell decisions.
- Translate customer problems, investing workflows, competitive insights, and behavioral data into clear product opportunities, requirements, roadmaps, and execution plans.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Design, Data, and Equity Research to build products that combine AI, financial data, and expert investment research into simple and compelling consumer experiences.
- Play an integral role in defining our AI product experience, including how AI-generated research and recommendations communicate reasoning, evidence, sources, assumptions, uncertainty, and risk.
- Help establish product standards for trust and quality in AI-generated financial research, working with our investment and technical teams to determine how outputs are evaluated before and after launch.
- Build and improve products such as AI research reports, stock discovery and screening tools, company research experiences, investment recommendations, watchlists, portfolio insights, and conversational research interfaces.
- Define clear success metrics for the products you own, including relevant activation, engagement, retention, conversion, and research-behavior metrics.
- Analyze funnels and user behavior, run experiments, synthesize qualitative and quantitative feedback, and iterate quickly based on what users actually do.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the competitive landscape across consumer brokerages, investing platforms, financial research products, market-data tools, and emerging AI investing products.
- Communicate product strategy, priorities, tradeoffs, decisions, results, and progress clearly across Product, Design, Engineering, Equity Research, and senior leadership.
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of 5 years of product management experience, including meaningful experience building B2C investing, brokerage, financial research, market-data, or investment-information products.
- Preferred experience from consumer investing or financial-information platform.
- Demonstrated experience owning products used by self-directed retail investors, ideally across one or more of the following areas: stock discovery, screeners, equity research, market data, company/fundamental data, watchlists, portfolio analytics, investment recommendations, financial news, or AI-powered investing tools.
- Strong public-equities fluency. You should understand financial statements, earnings, valuation multiples, consensus estimates, catalysts, investment theses, and the basic process investors use to evaluate public companies.
- Proven ability to take consumer product features from discovery through launch and iteration, including customer interviews, problem definition, PRDs/product requirements, prioritization, engineering execution, launch planning, experimentation, and post-launch measurement.
- Experience building high-engagement consumer or subscription products, with a strong understanding of activation, engagement, retention, conversion, and the behaviors that drive recurring product usage.
- Strong quantitative product instincts and experience using behavioral data, funnels, cohort analysis, experimentation, and product metrics to make decisions and evaluate launches.
- Experience working with data-intensive products and translating complex information into consumer experiences that are intuitive, useful, and trustworthy.
- Experience building AI-powered consumer products or features is strongly preferred. You should understand the opportunities and product challenges associated with LLM-generated content, including accuracy, explainability, source attribution, user trust, latency, and evaluation.
- Exceptional product judgment and attention to detail. You should be able to combine customer research, quantitative evidence, competitive insight, and your own judgment to determine what should—and should not—be built.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate user problems, product rationale, requirements, tradeoffs, metrics, and launch plans to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- High agency and a builder mentality. You are comfortable operating with incomplete information, making decisions, getting into the details, and moving quickly in an early-stage environment.
