Job Description
The Opportunity:
Join Fandango's Platform Operations team as a Software Engineer II, where you'll help build and enhance the tools and systems that improve developer productivity across Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, and Fandango at Home.
Reporting to the Sr. Director, Platform Operations, you'll collaborate with experienced engineers to develop platform capabilities, improve internal tooling, and contribute to scalable engineering solutions. This role offers an opportunity to learn, grow, and make meaningful contributions while working on products that support engineering teams across the organization.

Work Environment:
This is a fully remote position. While the role is remote, team members are expected to participate in periodic in-person collaboration opportunities (approximately 10% travel) to support team connection, planning, and business needs.
What You'll Do:
- Contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of internal platform tools and services under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Build and enhance backend services, APIs, and data models that support platform capabilities across multiple products.
- Develop user-friendly frontend experiences for internal tools using React and Next.js.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following established engineering standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, Platform, Infrastructure, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to deliver reliable technical solutions.
- Assist with monitoring, debugging, and troubleshooting applications using logging, metrics, and observability tools.
- Support software deployments through CI/CD pipelines and participate in maintaining healthy production environments.
- Contribute to technical documentation, code reviews, and continuous improvements to engineering processes and development workflows.
- Participate in an on-call rotation with guidance from senior team members as experience grows.
Qualifications
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent education or practical experience.
- Demonstrated programming experience through internships, co-ops, academic projects, open-source contributions, or up to 2 years of professional software development experience.
- Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Exposure to modern web development frameworks such as React through coursework, projects, or professional experience.
- Basic understanding of REST APIs, databases, and software development fundamentals.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
- Understanding of software testing concepts and a willingness to write maintainable, well-tested code.
- Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and a desire to continuously learn and grow as a software engineer.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Internship or project experience building web applications or internal tools.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS through coursework or personal projects.
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and modern software development workflows.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar technologies.
- Interest in developer productivity, platform engineering, or improving engineering workflows.
