Job Description
The Vice President, Rotten Tomatoes (Content & Platform) will serve as the senior operating leader responsible for driving enterprise-level platform growth, monetization strategy, editorial direction, brand governance, and cross-functional execution across Rotten Tomatoes’ web and app ecosystem.
The VP will oversee Editorial and consumer-facing platform performance while operating in close partnership with the Scoring & Integrity organization, which maintains authority over Tomatometer and Popcornmeter systems, moderation, critic governance, and data integrity.
The VP will operate as the connective tissue between Editorial, Product, Ad Sales, Content, Marketing, Finance, and Corporate Leadership — ensuring Rotten Tomatoes functions as a disciplined, revenue-driving, brand-safe, enterprise-ready digital platform.
This is a highly strategic and operational leadership role requiring strong business judgment, growth orientation, executive presence, and the ability to scale a trusted media brand into a habit-driven consumer platform.
Core Responsibilities
Enterprise Platform Ownership & App Accountability
- Serve as the business owner of the Rotten Tomatoes App experience.
- Own App KPI targets including MAU, engagement, retention, and web-to-app migration.
- Lead experimentation roadmap to improve session depth, repeat visitation, and feature adoption.
- Translate audience analytics into actionable growth strategy tied to measurable business outcomes.
- Partner with Product to prioritize consumer-facing roadmap initiatives aligned to platform KPIs.
- Establish clear performance dashboards and operating rhythms across web and app.
AI Strategy & Intelligent Platform Innovation
- Develop and lead Rotten Tomatoes’ AI strategy across consumer discovery, personalization, content operations, and internal workflows.
- Partner with Product and Data teams to evolve AI-powered features (including recommendation engines and aRTi) to improve engagement, retention, and user satisfaction.
- Identify responsible applications of generative AI to enhance editorial efficiency, content packaging, audience insights, and monetization experimentation.
- Establish governance frameworks to ensure AI initiatives align with brand trust, neutrality, transparency, and reputational standards.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and partnerships to ensure RT remains competitive as an intelligent entertainment discovery platform.
Editorial Strategy, Programming & Brand Governance
- Oversee the Director of Editorial and lead overall editorial strategy across web, app, awards, tentpoles, and new verticals.
- Ensure editorial programming directly supports audience growth, engagement, and monetization goals.
- Establish and maintain formal programming standards, greenlighting frameworks, and escalation protocols to mitigate brand and reputational risk.
- Serve as final decision authority on high-sensitivity editorial programming decisions (excluding scoring mechanics).
- Align content planning with enterprise objectives while preserving Rotten Tomatoes’ credibility, neutrality, and tone.
- Strengthen operational discipline across workflows, publishing cadence, and performance optimization.
Affiliate & Monetization Leadership
- Develop and execute affiliate revenue growth roadmap with defined quarterly targets.
- Optimize “Where to Watch” and content-to-commerce integrations in partnership with Data Operations.
- Drive monetization strategy for sponsored formats (e.g., avatars, Tomojis, activations).
- Identify, model, and pilot new revenue streams tied to content, data, partnerships, and distribution.
- Lead monthly revenue forecasting, variance analysis, and performance reviews for Rotten Tomatoes.
Ecosystem & Video Integration
- Oversee strategic integration of Movieclips into the Rotten Tomatoes ecosystem.
- Ensure alignment between editorial strategy, platform growth, and video monetization.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to maximize discoverability, sponsorship integration, and audience impact across surfaces.
Cross-Functional & Organizational Leadership
- Lead and develop a high-performing editorial and platform team.
- Establish decision-right clarity and accountability frameworks across growth and content operations.
- Represent Rotten Tomatoes in executive forums, strategic reviews, and cross-portfolio planning.
- Partner closely with the Scoring & Integrity organization to ensure seamless integration of scoring systems into the consumer experience while maintaining clear ownership boundaries.
Qualifications
Requirements
- 12+ years of digital media, platform, consumer product, or GM-level leadership experience.
- Demonstrated revenue accountability and P&L or forecasting ownership.
- Proven track record driving measurable app growth and retention.
- Experience scaling a brand within a high-visibility, reputation-sensitive environment.
- Strong operator mindset with ability to build process, dashboards, and governance frameworks.
- Experience leading AI-enabled product initiatives, recommendation systems, or generative content workflows within a high-trust brand environment.
- Editorial fluency with deep respect for trust, neutrality, and brand integrity.
Additional Requirements
- Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

- Salary range: $250,000-$300,000 + Bonus
