Job Description

Vermilion is looking for an experienced digital marketing leader (6+ years), responsible for driving our agency’s growth in digital marketing services, as well as crafting and executing strategic digital programs and campaigns for our clients.

As Sr. Manager of Digital Marketing, you will lead the planning and oversee a small team that executes strategic digital marketing programs for our clients through a variety of channels, including digital advertising (paid search, paid social, display, and video), SEO, websites and landing pages, email marketing, and ecommerce. You should have experience with managing paid campaigns in Google Ads and Facebook Ads, tracking performance via Google Analytics, and have experience using tools like various email service providers (ESPs), marketing automation, online ad platforms, and content management systems like WordPress and Shopify. To be successful you must demonstrate a passion for marketing innovation and growing digital services.



  • LEADERSHIP: This position will oversee the growth and development of this department, including identifying opportunities to optimize our mix of services based on trends and demand.

  • NEW BUSINESS: Help secure new business proposals by actively engaging in the new business process within the larger team will be a key aspect of this role.

  • STRATEGY: Guiding holistic campaign development, including strategy and recommendations across all channels of digital marketing.

  • CLIENT COMMUNICATION: Must be adept at speaking to clients about their campaigns, translating key insights and focusing on what will really move the needle and improve performance.

  • MEDIA PLANNING: Experience using forecasting tools, benchmarking data and keyword and audience research to develop hypotheses and strategies for client-facing presentations and recommendations.

  • PAID MEDIA MANAGEMENT: Ensure the timely, successful and profitable delivery of multiple projects and paid media campaigns according to client needs and objectives by managing execution, including setup of audiences and campaigns, build-out of ads and extensions (copy + design with Vermilion creative team), keyword research, ongoing optimization, and management of timeline and budgets.

  • REPORTING: Create campaign reports to analyze key data and uncover insights and relevant trends (Google Data Studio experience preferred; Google Analytics experience required). Ability to use this data to provide internal teams and clients with recommendations and next steps.

  • RESEARCH: Must display a deep curiosity for understanding the latest trends in digital marketing tools and best practices, including reading and sharing articles and topics with co-workers and clients.

  • CREATIVE: Assist with providing executable and innovative campaign ideas and creative suggestions as part of brainstorming sessions for content and advertising development with Vermilion’s creative team.


  • Minimum 6 years’ experience supporting and leading digital marketing campaigns and projects (agency experience preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing tools and general campaign strategies, best practices, and organizational systems

  • Working knowledge of all aspects of digital marketing, including SEO, paid search, display, video, email marketing, social media marketing, content marketing and creative development, and analytics and reporting

  • Hands-on experience planning, executing, managing, and reporting on campaigns using multiple platforms and tools. Since there are so many tools that can be used to accomplish the same end goals, we’ve tried to group them into our needs at Vermilion.

  • GOOD: Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook/Instagram Ads

  • BETTER: Google Search Console, SEO Tools (SEMRush, Moz, etc.), Google Data Studio, Experience with email service providers and tools (MailChimp, Constant Contact, etc.)

  • BEST:

    • Experience with website content management systems, including WordPress and Yoast SEO plugin, redirect plugins, etc.

    • Experience with conversion tracking setup (Google Tag Manager, Google Optimize)

    • Experience with ecommerce websites, including Shopify and WordPress Ecommerce plugins (WooCommerce, Big Commerce, etc.)

    • Experience with Paid Ecommerce, including Google Merchant Center and Google Shopping campaigns

    • Experience with at least one social media management software tool (e.g. Buffer, HootSuite, Sprout Social, etc.)

    • Experience with additional ad platforms, including Pinterest Ads, Bing Ads, Twitter Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Amazon, etc.

    • Experience creating social media content and designs (Canva, Photoshop, etc.)
