Job Description

We are seeking a Database Administrator to join our ICT Services Infrastructure Team in Harare. The role is focused on managing PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and Microsoft SQL Server environments across development, test, and production. You will be responsible for database administration, monitoring, upgrades, patching, performance tuning, backups, and disaster recovery. The DBA will also manage user access and security in line with Infosec directives, support database integration with reporting and analytics platforms, and ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Strong SQL skills across PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Experience with high-availability and replication (AlwaysOn, PgPool II, Galera).

  • Scripting skills in Bash, PowerShell, or Python.

  • Familiarity with backup/restore, performance tuning, and database security best practices.

  • Exposure to BI/reporting tools (SSRS, PowerBI, Grafana) an advantage.

  • Industry experience in Banking, Financial Services, or other regulated sectors preferred.

Additional Information

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a multinational, cross-functional team.

  • Able to self-manage, prioritise, and deliver without close supervision.

  • Familiarity with ISO27001, PCI-DSS, or equivalent compliance frameworks is desirable.

  • Occasional after-hours or on-call support may be required for maintenance or incident response.
