Job Description

The Commercial Lines Underwriting Solutions unit of Verisk Analytics is hiring a Crime/Liability Subject Matter Expert (SME) to revise and develop resources, including technical reports and training curriculum, to support internal and external customers (Insurers) in Crime and Liability insurance related topics. Internal customers may include the sales force, product development teams, and risk engineers; external customer may include insurers, underwriters and loss control professionals and trade associations.

The SME will utilize current best practice, legal precedence, and subject experience to guide customers in controlling crime exposures such as robbery, burglary, employee theft, cybercrime, fraud, and similar exposure. Additionally, the SME will be responsible for the same services related to customers Liability exposures, including general and professional liability, premises operations, pollution and environmental liability, contractual liability, and product liability.

The SME will collaborate closely with key stakeholders across the company to maintain consistency and align the content strategy with their vision. You will play a significant role in the maintenance and development of a successful and effective knowledge base.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and revise existing technical reports, checklist, and training programs to maintain currency and accuracy of information.
  • Develop new reports and training programs to support the committed growth of the knowledge center.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of high quality, up-to-date, and searchable content for audiences of varying skill level, and facilitate the dissemination of this knowledge to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Respond to internal inquiries related to specific crime and labiality exposures, in support of Verisk field staff.
  • Respond to external customer consultation requests, in writing, to aid those customers in serving their clients.
  • Develop training curriculum to enhance internal and external customers' understanding of crime and labiality related topics.
  • Maintain personal subject matter knowledge currency, by continued educational and self-development.
  • Assist the Data Manger in maintaining currency of Knowledge Center products and research database.
  • Work effectively across the organization with stakeholders, change management, service teams, trainers, curriculum developers and subject matter experts to develop relevant and accessible information that supports new and existing products, features, and services.

Qualifications

  • 10 to 15 years commercial insurance, underwriting, and/or risk control engineering experience across multiple lines of insurance, with a focus on crime and liability coverages.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related risk engineering or insurance related field. Exceptional experience may be substituted for formal education.
  • Awareness and general understanding of technology and the convergence of software and data in support of straight-through processing.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, mentoring, conceptual and innovative thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Experience authoring technical reports and answering customer inquiries.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with internal staff and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable speaking in front of a room full of industry executives and can also dive into the details of a challenging quantitative problem to solve customer needs.
  • Up to 10% travel required.
  • ASP, CSP, or similar professional designations
