The Verisk UX team consists of multi-disciplinary professionals, including UX Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, and Engineers, all of whom are passionate about our users. This team is crucial to gathering insights into the attitudes, emotions, and behaviors of those who use our products, using these insights to inspire and inform our design process.

The Senior User Experience (UX) Designer plays a pivotal role in crafting engaging and innovative designs that highlight the value of our ISO / Verisk products. This role involves close collaboration with stakeholders to conceptualize, design, prototype, and conduct usability testing of cutting-edge products aimed at enhancing customer satisfaction. Additionally, the UX Designer is tasked with maintaining design guidelines across the platform and products, ensuring the consistent representation of the Verisk brand. This position demands specialized knowledge and expertise to analyze and solve problems within established frameworks.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leverage UX principles to address challenges and deliver effective solutions.
  • Define and articulate the expected behaviors of User Workflows, Use Case and Scenario Analysis.
  • Utilize common design patterns effectively, but also recognize when to innovate beyond them.
  • Focus meticulously on details, when necessary, while maintaining a clear vision of the overall product experience as you assess and enhance features.
  • Facilitate and observe usability testing and accessibility throughout the designs.
  • Collaborate with Product Owner, Technology and User Analytics to develop informed design decisions for better experiences.
  • Facilitate design handoff process with designer-developer collaboration.
  • Work in cross-functional teams, especially with Engineering and Product Management, to plan, prioritize and deliver information architecture, visual design assets and layouts to support a cohesive user experience.
  • Design and document branded design patterns to develop a visual design system for re-use across the platforms.
  • Participate in scrum ceremonies for assigned product team(s)
  • Document and review UX artifacts with key stakeholders to provide insights and gain approvals. 
  • Perform additional UX duties as required to support applications and address customer pain points.
  • Repeatedly iterate and improve on an established design solution, based on evidence and sound design rationale.
  • Apply various design methodologies and share insights on internal situations and projects with the team.
  • Keep up with design standards and best practices to ensure high-quality and up-to-date design outputs.

 

Qualifications

Skills and Expertise Requirements:

  • Showcase Your Thought Process: A compelling portfolio that highlights your design thinking in multiple projects and your direct contributions.
  • Project Narratives: Detailed project descriptions that explain the motivations behind the design, the influences on your decisions, and the delivery of the final solution.
  • Collaborative Development: Proven skills in iterating and advancing features in collaboration with stakeholders, including engineering and product management teams.
  • Communicating UX Concepts: Proficiency in expressing UX ideas through both low-fidelity and high-fidelity deliverables.
  • Agile Workflow: Experience navigating an agile environment and performing key tasks within sprint cycles.
  • Team Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration abilities within a design team and across different functional teams.
  • Enterprise Experience: Preferred background in designing for enterprise applications and software.
  • Proficiency with Design Tools: Strong preference for experience with tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch or Axure RP.
  • Design System Familiarity: Familiarity and work experience with design systems like Carbon Design System, Atlassian Design, and Google Material 3, Microsoft Fluent Design System and Lightning Design System is a plus.
  • Front-end Experience: Knowledge of coding in HTML/CSS/JS or familiarity with JS frameworks like Angular/React/Vue etc. will be an added advantage.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in Human Centered Design, Visual Communication, Graphic Design and/or 4+yrs equivalent UX work experience or similar role (Bachelor's minimum) 
  • Good knowledge in Visual Design, Information Architecture and Usability Evaluation methodologies establishing interactive branded interfaces such as web apps, mobile devices, presentations, and other digital formats.
  • Understanding of developing and delivering successful, intuitive, and compelling designs.
  • Knowledge of human-centered design principles as well as software development processes. 
  • Experience with Design Thinking Framework and it’s uses to solve complex problems.
  • Must have experience using any of the following design and collaboration software/applications:
    • Collaborative design tools like Figma (preferred), Adobe XD, Sketch, Miro etc.
    • Rapid functional prototyping tools like Axure RP, FramerX or Invision.
    • Adobe Illustrator or other similar design tools.
    • MS Teams, JIRA, Confluence etc.
