Job Description

The Product Owner (PO) is accountable for supporting the growth and success of one or more Verisk Marketing Solutions (VMS) Product Lines. The Product Owner will support the Product Manager for the Product line and will operate as the “Voice of Product” with the technical development teams.  The Product Owner will Support cross-functional activities and resources across the organization to drive the ongoing success of the Product Line for our current customers (delivery, value achievement, and retention), as well as the growth and adoption of the Product Line by new customers (sales).  The Product Owner owns product support, analysis, and facilitates technical execution for the product line roadmap in support of the Product Manager vision, communicating internally and externally to support alignment and ensure success of our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development Roadmap Planning & Execution

  • Support and help manage the product development roadmap. Partner with the Product Manager to manage development initiatives for the product line by meeting with cross-team stakeholders and creating and enriching specifications and acceptance criteria in Product development requests.
  • Lead product acceptance for newly developed features; Partner with the Data and Development technical teams along with the Product Manager to define and verify success.
  • Work closely with technical leaders and development teams to drive the execution of the roadmap and deliver on target release dates.
  • Communicating roadmap obstacles and prioritization decisions needed.

Product Delivery & Operations.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and the Product Manager to define and improve the process by which we deliver the product line to our customers, including, attending the data teams ceremonies, implementation, support, technical documentation, and customer success.
  • Operate as tier 2 support for escalations, acting as a researcher and decision maker for issues and errors related to the delivery of the product, or for customers and prospects experiencing challenges achieving the standard value proposition of the product line.
  • Manage the Product Feedback Loop queue, ensuring that we integrate customer derived feedback and features into our ongoing development process.
  • Help with product ideation, design, mock-ups and POC’s.

Customer / Prospect Relationships & Market Facing Activities

  • Support the Product Manager and Solutions Consultant when they are engaged with high value, strategic opportunities, by providing escalated product support, analysis, and technical product guidance.

Go-to-Market Positioning, Sales Strategy, and Sales Execution

  • Support the go-to-market positioning for the product line by helping the Product Manager with product feature & performance analysis, feature descriptions, and additional product metrics, to feed the Product Line GTM talk track and points of differentiation for Enablement.

Outcomes of Success

  • Manage execution of the Technical Roadmap for the Product Line. Oversee the launch of new products & features for the product line, executed in alignment with the go-to-market roadmap activities and Product Manager vision.
  • You are considered internally to be an expert on how the product works. You support the Product Manager by taking ever increasing steps to effectively position and explain the product with cross-team stakeholders and external customers and prospects, to support business continuity and facilitate driving buying decisions.
  • You build trust and strong collaborative working relationships with technical teams and technical leadership, contributing to a “one team, one set of goals” culture.
  • You’ve built the trust and confidence of the Product Manager and technical team(s). The Product Manager seeks out your input and opinion to support and feed the Product line vision. The technical teams look to you as their partner and advisor for delivering technical solutions in development Sprints.

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience working in a Product, Project Management, Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or related role.
  • BS degree in technical or business field or equivalent experience
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • A self-motivated team player who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment and eager to learn.
  • Familiarity with SQL and API technologies.
  • Prior work experience with a Data and/or SaaS company strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies, Agile/Scrum, and PMO best practices preferred.
  • Insurance, Financial Services, AdTech/MarTech/Media industry/vertical knowledge a strong plus.
  • Product Owner training/certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Jira, Confluence, and data visualization platforms (e.g., Sigma, Tableau, Power BI).
  • This is a hybrid in-office role, must be willing to come in to the office 1-2 days a week.
