We are looking for a strong Accounting leader who is ready to drive change, make strategic decisions and build a strong team.  In this position you will be responsible for developing and implementing a shared services model for our Corporate Finance function in Krakow.  This team provides transactional and accounting services to our international businesses within Verisk.  The areas in scope for this team are Record-to-Report, Order-to- Cash and Procure-to-Pay.

The role overview:

  • Provide strategic guidance, mentoring and motivation to the managers and staff within the finance shared service center.
  • Full ownership of defined shared service processes and maintain comprehensive SLA metrics to track performance and communicate to applicable internal stakeholders.
  • Responsible for fully managing the teams that support the financial subledgers within the corporate ERP system.  This includes leading a Financial Systems team to support issue resolution and process improvement.
  • Partners closely with US and UK colleagues on completion of the monthly financial close process to ensure timely and accurate preparation and recording of financial transactions, issue resolution, account reconciliations, and financial flux analysis. 
  • Partner with our external auditors during quarterly, interim and statutory audits. 
  • Identify sensitive issues and facilitate communications in a proactive manner to avoid surprises.

 

Qualifications

  • This role requires a highly motivated and experienced accounting professional with a track record of success leading a global team
  • Must have at least 7 years of experience in leading an Accounting Shared Services team with experience across all areas of accounting operations
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, internal controls, SOX compliance applicable to a publicly traded company, and process improvement
  • This position is best suited for an accounting professional who possesses strong leadership, organizational, and technology skills.  Demonstrated ability to lead and influence highly qualified professionals in a complex matrix organization
  • Strong customer service mindset; and ability to operate independently and remain focused through change or uncertainty
  • Strong organization and follow up skills; can handle competing priorities and still meet all commitments required under our service level agreements (SLA).
  • Ability to flourish in a fast-paced, complex environment and willing to adapt to change.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and a desire to continually improve.
  • Demonstrate sound business judgment and decision-making; is resourceful and proactive in planning.
  • Self-motivated to act without prompting; can work independently.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.  Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of management in an organized, professional manner.
  • Proficient English is a requirement; German language is a plus but not required.
