Job Description

  • Responsible for assisting in preparation of various GIS and Remote Sensing related components for development of EES Models.
  • Work on large-scale GIS dataset preparation projects in support of model development projects
  • Should be strong in GIS and Remote Sensing concepts (Digitization/editing, Geo-referencing, Reformatting, Map-projections, Soil Type Classification, Image Resampling techniques, Vector2 Raster conversions, Topology checking, Cartography, Geodatabases, Image Classification/Analysis, Processing Satellite/Aerial/Lidar datasets etc.)
  • Updating/Maintenance of Physical Properties such as Flood zones/Base Flood Elevation/Storm Surge, Geology/Soil, Landslide/Liquefaction, Geocoding/Reverse Geocoding, Flood defense Structure (Levees) delineation, Territory-ZIP Mapping, Pin/Post Code Mapping, Industry Exposure data generation (building & Infrastructure footprints), Elevation and Land use & Land cover extractions, Raster Spatial Analysis.
  • Should be responsible for Elevation, Land Use/ Land Cover, Soil data collection and generation.
  • Should be responsible for geospatial data collection from various national/state/regional portals based on the project requirements.
  • Automate GIS procedures and develop new and innovative ways for Geoprocessing team workflows
  • Analyze, validate, and present results using spreadsheets, charts, and maps
  • Work as member of multi-faceted research team and assist Flood team members in ensuring best GIS practices
  • Write technical documents for internal use and distribution to clients

Qualifications

Educational Qualification:

B Tech or M Tech or M.Sc. (in Geo-Informatics/Geography/Remote Sensing & GIS) or Spatial Technologies

Total Experience: 1-3 years

Must-Have skills:

  1. Fluent in software of ARCGIS Desktop / ArcGISPro/ ERDAS/ ENVI/ IDRISI, QGIS and Google Earth Pro
  2. Must have working knowledge in ArcGIS Extensions: Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Image Analyst, and Network Analyst.
  3. Strong geo-analytics and geoprocessing skills with emphasis on raster format
  4. Good knowledge on Remote Sensing concepts
  5. Knowledge of Python, SQL & R
  6. Ensuring effective measures for the project to be completed with good quality and in time
  7. Design, develop, maintaining GIS databases, and spatial analysis.
  8. Excellent communication skills in project documentation/ technical presentations.
  9. Ability to work within a collaborative environment
  10. Possess a positive attitude and independently work.
  11. Willingness to learn and apply new technologies, strategies, and theories is crucial. Open-minded and receptive to feedback and suggestion. With tremendous opportunity to learn and grow within the Extreme Event Solution team, the applicant must be self-motivated.

Nice-To-Have:

 

  1. Knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise, C#, Open-Source GIS (QGIS, GDAL, SAGA, GeoDa, etc.), SQL Server, C++, Matlab
  2. Geo-statistical techniques and data mining
  3. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  4. Good mathematical & statistical background
  5. Willingness and enthusiasm to learn elements of catastrophe modeling and insurance industry
