Job Description

Individual will contribute to and take a lead role on a variety of tasks in support of the weather solutions product set. Tasks may include weather event analysis and forecasting, creation of maps and other graphics, data analysis using Excel, Python, or similar, creation of content such as blogs, presentations, etc. to support sales and marketing, and participating in internal and external product related discussions. In addition to individually contributing to these tasks, the individual will also oversee portions of less experienced staff members work in these areas. The product analyst will also work closely with other product team members and interface with our scientists and software developers as well as other internal Verisk employees and external clients. The individual may be solely responsible for presenting content during some internal and external meetings.

About the Day to Day Responsibilities of the Role

  • Develop product ROI and other use case metrics to support sales opportunities
  • Creates statistics and analytics to support product improvements and product performance discussions
  • Participate in sales discussions to support weather solutions revenue opportunities
  • Create presentation content to support sales opportunities
  • Perform weather analysis and forecasting as well as quality control in support of operational products
  • Aid in the creation of marketing content such as white papers, blogs, etc.
  • Manage analytical projects by creating new analytics and working with less experienced staff
  • Contribute to discussions related to product improvements and requirements gathering
  • Manage small products by being responsible for client interactions and project plans related to it
  • Aid in the development of product use cases and internal integration opportunities for weather solutions data
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational/training opportunities, reading professional publications, and/or participating in professional organizations, conferences, or seminars

Qualifications

About You and How You Can Excel in this Role

  • Education: BS, MS, or PhD in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, or related science field with work experience
  • Professional Experience: Demonstrated professional experience including experience leading small projects or products
  • Weather Analysis: Demonstrated experience analyzing and discussing weather events from both a forecast and post-event perspective
  • Data Analysis: Experience working with large datasets and solving analytical problems; Strong intellectual curiosity
  • Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills with a keen eye for details; Experience presenting to and/or conveying information to non-technical audiences; Experience coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Programming: Competent in programming using languages such as Python, with demonstrated experience; Competency in Linux/Unix and shell scripting is a plus
  • Travel Required: <5%
