Join our Corporate Accounting team in our Jersey City office where we have a flexible hybrid work environment with 2-3 days per week in-office and 2-3 days per week remote.

• Develop robust documentation around SOX-compliant internal controls, and continuously ensure our internal controls are of best practice and in compliance with section 404 of the Sarbanes Oxley Act.
• Ensuring that Verisk’s accounting policies are being followed in accordance with USGAAP.  Review each technical accounting area on a continuous basis to verify such compliance is continuous.
• Research and implementation of technical accounting guidance, as well as documentation of related corporate accounting memos documenting Verisk’s position and conclusion.
• Participate in the review, analysis, and documentation of complex transactions.
• Continually improve business processes through automation, thoughtful analysis, and researching standard methodologies in the industry.
• Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
• Support numerous special projects and requests from the executive leadership team/board of directors as they arise.
• Completes all responsibilities as outlined on annual Performance Plan.
• Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements:

• 5-8 years of accounting experience (Big 4 or large regional audit firm experience strongly preferred) in applying USGAAP
• Strong understanding of USGAAP rules required
• Effective documentation, teamwork and communication skills are required
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
• Large ERP experience is a plus
• Experience in supervising employees a plus but not required
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
• Strong attention to detail, ability to self-review, and sense of ownership
• Excellent organizational and planning skills; set goals, establish priorities, utilize available resources and plan work to meet deadlines and commitments

Skills/Education:

• BS degree in accounting required
• Strong working knowledge of USGAAP
• CPA is a plus but not required
