We are looking for a data-driven Director - Technology Strategist in the CDO team who is ready to apply their expertise in planning, analysis, and execution of strategic projects. This position will strategize and deliver the global planning technologies framework at Verisk. This is a pivotal role that will have huge impact on changing the role planning plays, advancing business and technology strategies and tactics. The role collaborates with architecture leadership, and has responsibility for sourcing, leading, and presenting forward-thinking, high-impact planning technology capabilities focused on key strategic initiatives for Verisk. The scope of this role includes (not limited to) Integrated Business Planning, Financial Planning, Demand & Supply Planning. This role will lead cross functional teams including business, in an exciting and engaging environment, where s/he will be encouraged to leverage their skills and work closely with businesses across the company to share new ideas and deliver on their projects. The successful candidate will have proven professional experience and a detailed knowledge of industry's best practice processes. Years of experience in Technology planning, data analysis etc. across multiple touchpoints. This role is critical in changing the internal ways of working to enable Verisk to leverage the dynamic advances in the Planning capabilities and this individual must have proven experience in driving transformational change, global scale and positioning the company to incorporate emerging technologies around enterprise planning technologies and strategies. The role holder requires a strong ability to build a network and influence e senior, cross-functional leaders to resolve issues that may arise to deliver a consistently high service to our data consumers.

Requirements

  • As a director, provide leadership and strategic direction to ensure the technologies are aligned with Verisk's strategic priorities and goals; You’ll split your time between unblocking your team, vetting their designs, and coaching them to realize their full potential, while also building things yourself.
  • Implement enterprise applications Center of Excellence establishing governance, standards, and best practice policies and procedures, aligned to operational & strategic decisions.
  • Formulate and recommend Vision & Prep technology/architecture strategy decisions by identifying technology platforms, distribution, and connectivity to applications/business functions.
  • Proactively drive the vision for enterprise tools and define and execute on a plan to achieve that vision.
  • Develop a horizontal technology roadmap in conjunction with strategy & management teams input to enable technology solutions that meet the needs of multiple business stakeholder groups.
  • Partner with IT Security and ER&C in ensuring application security practices are created and sustained.
  • Identify opportunities to adopt innovative technologies and identifies and recommends improvements in current methodologies.
  • Balance competing business needs, platform optimization, and team workloads.
  • Maintain a productive working relationship across business units, functional units, & team members.
  • Mentor and grow the team, identify the required skills, hire the best talent, actively manage their performance, and help them to grow to their fullest potential.
  • Create, mentor, develop, and monitor a team of enterprise application professionals.
  • Manage software suppliers/vendors effectively, including procurement, negotiations, terms, support, and professional services as needed.
  • Lead the planning and project execution while providing strategic management direction and executive visibility.
  • Determine appropriate project management methods to report status, track metrics, & assess progress to ensure that business, stakeholders, leadership teams, & project teams are aligned.
  • Effectively manage, monitor, and escalate issues with respect to the CDO portfolio.
  • Work closely with product owners & stakeholders to ensure the team strives to achieve shared understanding of deliverables’ scope.
  • Collaborate with project team (Data Infrastructure, Data Visualizations, & Data Scientists), Security, Legal, & IT teams to define & monitor project tasks, manage deliverables, & identify dependencies.
  • Effectively manage, plan for, and mitigate risk to projects; relentlessly track down resolutions to critical issues or escalates when necessary.
  • Where engaged in programs, collaborate with project and portfolio management colleagues in the business to coordinate and effectively manage development deliverable timelines, risks, and issues across the broader organization to manage other non-tech workstreams needed for successful delivery of value to our customers.
  • Assist with the various platforms’ strategic direction and their roadmap

Qualifications

  • Highly organized, articulate, and communicative leader who is comfortable working with all levels of stakeholders, including executive leadership.
  • 8+ years of technical and analysis leadership experience managing Enterprise level initiatives.
  • 10+ years of proven experience serving as Project Manager, Business Analyst, and/or ScrumMaster role working with agile and traditional software development life cycle models. 
  • Good working knowledge of Enterprise level business solutions in both IDS and off the shelf platforms and related architectures.
  • An ability to intelligently prioritize multiple competing projects and timelines.
  • A passion for problem-solving, with a strong ability to recognize flawed processes or repeated issues and build scalable solutions.
  • Strong and effective interpersonal, communication (oral and written), and motivational skills within technical and function team members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to translate technical requirements into language that is understandable to different audiences.
  • Must have Leadership mentality with the ability to mentor other team members.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, or relevant experience in technology and/or insurance industry.
  • PMP or CSM certification is a plus.
  • Experience with operational excellence and process improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean) is a plus.
