Job Description

We seek a full-time Head of Global Power Fundamentals for Wood Mackenzie’s Power & Renewables team. The team’s research spans power market fundamentals forecasting and proprietary sensor network data comprising some of Wood Mackenzie’s most highly utilized data, reports, and insights. The team consists of Data Analysts, Meteorologists, and Data Scientists, focusing on providing data and analytics for global power price forecasts. Our broad industry knowledge and granular understanding of global power markets are unparalleled, giving our clients the information and data to make critical decisions in their operations and through the energy transition.

Main Responsibilities

The Head of Global Power Fundamentals will have a robust power market modeling and fundamentals background.

  • They will provide thoughtful guidance and mentorship to the teams delivering the industry’s best fundamentals forecasts.
  • The successful candidate will also aid the development and execution of product roadmaps by ensuring their team meets milestones.
  • Another key responsibility is building and mentoring a high-performance team, effectively motivating and mentoring teammates to achieve positive results.
  • In addition, you are adept at team resource management and prioritization, particularly coordinating and negotiating within a larger internal group.

    Qualifications

    About You

    • Minimum of 7 of experience in power market modeling and forecasting in a Research role
    • Minimum of 7 of experience successfully managing a team or an overall group that contained at least 5+ people
    • Strong preference for experience in both being a contributor and leader of a team that works with internal stakeholders, sales, and marketing to ensure services, data, and analytics meet organizational needs
    • Understanding of power market forecasting and understanding of competitors and their advantages and disadvantages to Woodmac’s services to drive and contribute to strategy
    • Experience in providing people management through career growth and plans for the team
    • Superb communication skills, including a command of the English language (verbal and written)

    Expectations

    • We are a hybrid working company, and the successful applicant will be expected to be physically present in the office at least two days per week to foster and contribute to a collaborative environment, but this may be subject to change in the future.
    • Due to the global nature of the team, a degree of flexible working will be required to accommodate different time zones.
