We are looking for a Research Associate - Corporate ESG to join our growing Markets & ESG team.

Verisk Maplecroft’s Markets & ESG team delivers qualitative and quantitative research, applied data products, and advisory projects to help the firm’s financial sector clients incorporate ESG, climate and political risks and opportunities into their investment processes and decisions. This includes the delivery of markets-oriented research and data products and the curation of the company’s wider research through multiple formats including verbal briefings and investor calls; the development of commercial strategy jointly with the sales team; and founding distribution or product partnerships with third parties. The team is organised by asset class, and partners with our wider data science, research, sales and consulting functions to maintain high levels of new business development and growth.
 

This is an entry-level analyst role for an enthusiastic, diligent candidate who is interested in supporting the development and growth of our work on corporate debt and equities. This role is well suited for a candidate that is both interested in the detailed day-to-day work required for the development of applied data products and eager to learn about the broader ESG data ecosystem and its relevance for institutional investors. 

Primary Responsibilities

• Regular and ad-hoc review and quality assurance of internal datasets and client deliverables, to support productization of analytics and research relevant to corporate debt and equities.
• Collating, manipulating, and customizing datasets for project deliverables in Excel, Power BI, or other data visualization packages.
• Applying data outputs to regular short-form research deliverables, as a co-author and progressively sole author ideating and developing research insights.
• Supporting authorship of larger, innovative research pieces through quantitative and qualitative research.
• Progressively increasing interaction with clients and prospects as research representative, in partnership with the commercial team, to support retention and new business development.
• Subject to capacity, participation in advisory/consulting projects to support institutional investor clients with ESG incorporation.

• A robust data orientation. Mastery of relevant aspects of Excel is a prerequisite. Practical capabilities will count more than credentials in this regard.
• Prior experience with data visualisation packages, particularly Power BI. Ability to use other statistical or data visualisation packages will be additionally welcome.
• Genuine interest in ESG, climate and political factors, particularly regarding their significance for corporate debt and equities investments.
• An undergraduate degree.
• Qualitative, data-led research experience on ESG, climate or political factors will be welcome.
• Detail-oriented, diligent approach.
• Strong communication skills.
• Self-confident and self-motivated.
