Wood Mackenzie’s purpose is to transform the way we power our planet and our Corporate Research team is at the forefront of helping our clients navigate the energy transition.

As part of a world-class group of industry experts, you will lead the development and delivery of a new Corporate Downstream Service. The role entails full downstream coverage of 20+ companies across the globe.  We are seeking candidates with an expert-level understanding of the downstream energy value chain gained in previous roles. Your knowledge of the traditional downstream (refining, marketing and chemicals) and emerging themes (new fuels and convenience) cuts across assets, markets and companies.

Qualifications

Your application should showcase your enthusiasm for the downstream sectors and demonstrate your ability in the following areas.

  • Research and data gathering – we identify and gather intelligence that feeds our industry expertise. We need inquisitive and passionate people with a keen eye for detail. You will ensure data integrity and best practices are followed to develop a differentiated offering and deliver a market-leading service.
  • Analysis - we provide market-leading research using this data/intelligence and form opinions for, and tell stories to, our customers. There will be a significant downstream modelling component to this position, as well as generating written reports and insights on a regular basis. Supported by colleagues in data and research, you will manage the end-to-end process to maintain and enhance the operational and financial models that underpin the service. You have a commercial mindset and can formulate cutting-edge analysis from a variety of data and information. This is coupled with your ability to communicate highly complex or technical information, delivering verbal and written messages that are easily understood by diverse audiences. You are an expert in Microsoft Excel and PowerBI and may have knowledge of other relevant platforms or data languages.
  • Internal engagement – we work with colleagues across the Wood Mackenzie business to deliver customers a compelling, integrated view of the natural resources sector through our cutting-edge products. A key priority for you will be to manage the delivery of content while collaborating closely with other teams including Downstream Assets and Markets, Data Management, Sales, Marketing and Product. The way in which you work enables you to build effective, collaborative internal relationships and can influence at all levels in the company. You understand that diversity of experience and thought makes a difference and that working across different geographies requires cultural appreciation.
  • External engagement – we proactively connect with our customers and contacts in the industries we serve, adding value and promoting the Wood Mackenzie brand. You are client-focused and understand the value of data and expert insight for business decision-making. You are passionate about what you do, and the quality of your work makes you credible with customers and able to engage at the senior level.
  • Continuous improvement – at Wood Mackenzie, we are committed to transforming the way we power our planet. The energy transition is here, impacting our customer base and how we serve them. You enjoy the development and implementation of modelling, problem-solving and process improvement. You are energised by asking questions and thinking creatively. You have a proven track record of fostering strong working relationships. The way in which you work is highly productive, striving to be best in class and setting the standard for others to follow.
