Verisk Maplecroft is a trusted advisor to clients from a range of sectors, including natural resources, financial services and consumer goods. Within our consulting practice, our Climate Risk and Resilience team has been at the forefront of the ongoing evolution of climate and resilience risk assessment, management and disclosure for over 15 years.

This role will best suit you if you’re interested in resilience to risks posed by climate change, natural hazards and security threats, but also interested in helping global companies manage broader related environmental, social and sustainability challenges.

As a GIS Engineer, you will support the team in preparing various GIS analyses to aid the planning, design and delivery of large projects as well as contributing ad hoc analysis and mapping capabilities

Responsibilities:

As a member of our Climate and Resilience team, you will work collaboratively to help deliver a range of projects for global corporate and financial sector clients. Depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidate, this is likely to include:

  • Working on larger-scale GIS datasets for external clients
  • Analyze, validate, and present results using spreadsheets, charts, and maps
  • Automate GIS procedures and develop new and innovative ways for geoprocessing team workflows
  • Work as member of multi-faceted research team and assist team members in ensuring best GIS practices
  • Create technical documents for internal use and distribution to clients

Qualifications

Educational Qualifications: B Tech or M Tech or M.Sc. (in Geo Informatics/Geography/Remote Sensing & GIS) or Spatial Technologies

Total Experience: 2+ years

  • Fluent in software of ARCGIS Desktop / ArcGISPro, QGIS and Google Earth Pro.
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise, python, Open-Source GIS (GDAL, SAGA, GeoDa, etc.), R, SQL Server, Matlab.
  • Must have working knowledge in ArcGIS Extensions: Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Image Analyst, and Network Analyst.
  • Knowledge of database management and database versioning.
  • Strong geo-analytics and geoprocessing skills with emphasis on raster format.
  • Ability to work flexibly, to tight deadlines, while managing your own schedule.

Nice-To-Have:

  • Ability to communicate technical process and data outputs to non-technical audiences.
  • Geo-statistical techniques and data mining.
  • Good knowledge on remote sensing concepts.
  • Good mathematical & statistical background.
  • Good understanding of climate change and/or security risks and opportunities for organization's and how those interact with social, economic, and political factors.
