As the relevance of the energy transition begins to take hold across the globe, a key determinant in its success is the pace of electrification of the transport fleet. The fundamentals of the Battery Raw Materials market have become a key determinant of one of the largest input costs into new energy vehicles. Stakeholders in the industry increasingly need to understand how battery and fuel cell technologies will evolve to understand costs of raw materials and supply chain risks. Wood Mackenzie can offer unique coverage of these markets with detailed understanding of the energy transition and the raw materials that are so integral to it.

The Senior Analyst – Battery Raw Materials Markets role is within the Energy Transition & Battery Raw Materials team as part of Metals and Mining Markets.

The Senior Analyst – Battery Raw Materials Markets will apply solid analytical capabilities and knowledge of Battery Raw Materials supply, demand and price analysis to enhance Wood Mackenzie's analysis and services to customers.

In delivering this product, the Senior Analyst will develop a sophisticated understanding of implications for our clients’ interests, to provide frequent, thorough and clear written analyses to defined publication schedules, and perceptive Insights providing innovative and original views on industry developments. The analyst will communicate regularly with clients, sharing our views and engaging in mutually beneficial dialogue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the ongoing improvement of the Battery Raw Materials markets product, in collaboration with the Head of Energy Transition & Battery Raw Materials, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Help build and shape our Battery Raw Materials markets analysis and consulting capability
  • Apply solid analytical capabilities and knowledge to maintain market analysis for key raw materials and collaborate with other metals teams to support analysis
  • Produce original market analysis with a culmination in client deliverables and industry thought leadership pieces.
  • Conduct analysis on Battery Raw Materials markets trends, drivers, pricing, offerings, and company specific competitiveness.
  • Monitor ongoing developments in the battery and fuel cell technology and infrastructure development, installation rates and manufacturing capacity
  • Work closely with colleagues in other Research sector group including but not limited to Energy Transition Practice and Chemicals to help shape the company’s integrated view
  • Provide our client base with concise, timely and insightful analysis of key industry trends and events
  • Develop and maintain proprietary models
  • Establish and maintain contacts with mining industry stakeholders to acquire proprietary data and knowledge
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with industry contacts and research clients, including presentation to clients via various deliverables, necessitating international travel
  • Effectively communicate analysis findings to clients through written deliverables, webcalls, podcasts, conferences and face-to-face presentations Participate in supporting sales and marketing activities including eve
  • Contribute consistently to consultancy or other cross-sector projects and help shape project requirements.
  • Respond to client enquiries and ad hoc requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Make a contribution towards internal and external knowledge sharing

Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline (e.g. Mining/ Geology/ Metallurgical Engineering or Economics/ Business etc.),
  • Detailed knowledge of Battery Raw Materials markets, including supply, demand and pricing
  • Proven numerical analytic capabilities, including problem solving and technical skills
  • Presentation experience
  • Strong organisation and planning skills plus the ability to manage own workload
  • The ability to work as part of a team which may involve multiple locations and time zones
  • A willingness to travel to other company and client offices, and undertake industry site visits
  • A strong commitment to commercial excellence and meeting the high-quality standards expected by our clients
