About the Role

Verisk Maplecroft is a trusted advisor to clients from a range of sectors, including natural resources, financial services and consumer goods. Our experienced Climate & Resilience practice is structured to provide advice based on real substance and which often leverages our unrivalled risk datasets covering over 160 issues and 198 countries globally.

Due to growing demand, we are looking for an experienced operational resilience consultant to help deliver disruption risk management support to clients primarily in financial services and ICT sectors, while contributing to the future direction and growth of the practice.

As a Principal Consultant, you will often take the lead in helping clients design, build and implement systems and processes to help safeguard their key operations and supply chains from external threats, including natural and man-made hazards (please note: this role is unlikely to cover cybersecurity). In this role you will manage team members on individual projects, while also collaborating and drawing on subject matter expertise from other parts of the business, including climate change, security, political risk and geospatial analysis.

This role will also provide numerous opportunities to engage in a wide variety of consulting projects, contribute to Verisk Maplecroft’s subscription-based analysis and datasets, and help develop new sustainability products / solutions.

The role will also involve a degree of domestic and international travel for short periods of time (i.e. days rather than weeks) to attend conferences, client meetings and/or to meet project requirements/deliverables.

As a key member of our Climate & Resilience practice, you will work collaboratively to deliver a range of projects for global clients. This is likely to include:

Day-to-Day Responsibilities of the Role
• Providing a leadership role on consulting projects, including acting as the primary point of contact for clients and holding responsibility for the successful delivery of project outputs / achievement of project objectives
• Application of operational / disruption risk knowledge in a variety of contexts, including the communication of project outputs, review and approval of deliverables, design and embedding of new risk management approaches for clients
• Represent Verisk Maplecroft at various external events, such as conferences, roundtables and industry forums 
• Support business development activities, including identification and development of additional client needs, project scoping, proposal writing and contributing towards engaging thought leadership material
• Coordinating with internal stakeholders (within Maplecroft and our sister companies) to refine and grow Verisk Maplecroft’s operational resilience offering 
• Contribution towards workstreams within a variety of shorter-term consultancy projects, such as scenario analysis, horizon scanning, multi-hazard risk assessments, physical climate risk assessments, supply chain disruption, etc.

Qualifications

•    8+ years experience in operational resilience / business continuity / disruption risk in an in-house or consulting capacity
•    A good understanding of operational resilience regulation in the US and UK
•    Strong stakeholder management skills, including capability to manage interactions on both the client-side and with internal colleagues and sister organisations  
•    Analytical with good numerical ability and attention to detail
•    Experience in the design and application of risk assessment methods and analytical techniques
•    Excellent Excel skills, PowerPoint and written communication skills 
•    GIS experience would be advantageous
