Job Description

Verisk Maplecroft’s Markets Team is responsible for producing research and applied data analytics for the company’s financial sector clients, as well as co-developing relevant products in partnership with the Product team. The team is organised by asset class and has an extremely varied and demanding workflow focused on helping investors and banks to incorporate ESG, climate and political risks into their investment processes and decisions. Within this framework, the fast-growing sovereign debt practice is particularly well-established, reflecting Verisk Maplecroft’s status as a leader in analytics and research to support sovereign ESG incorporation. 

Reporting into the Head of Markets, you will lead our sovereign debt practice via a range of activities including:


•    Generating impactful research on sovereign ESG and sovereign risk via white papers and insights, including applied use of our Sovereign ESG Ratings and other analytics to drive adoption across the market
•    Delivering additional thought leadership on sovereign debt in a range of other formats including conference presentations, internal and external webinars, podcasts, etc. 
•    Building and managing a team of regional analysts over time to increase Verisk Maplecroft’s delivery of research insights to sovereign debt investors
•    As part of your research agenda, innovating with new applied and/or derived analytics that support defined sovereign debt-related workflows, including quantification of the impact of ESG and political risk factors on credit risk, and advance industry best practice in these areas
•    Driving forward the vision and roadmap for sovereign debt-related products in partnership with Verisk Maplecroft’s central product team
•    Supporting sales counterparts on new business and renewal conversations in relation to sovereign debt workflows
•    Accountability for / oversight of the maintenance and scheduled updates to Verisk Maplecroft’s sovereign ESG ratings and other sovereign debt-focused analytics
•    Providing guidance to colleagues across the wider company on the production of written research for sovereign debt clients, and the integration of Verisk Maplecroft’s sovereign debt-related analytics into this research.
•    Contributing to custom advisory projects, ranging from custom research content to strategic advice on ESG incorporation; as well as leading advisory projects focused on sovereign debt
•    Supporting a designated subset of sovereign debt clients with advice on the applied use of Verisk Maplecroft’s data analytics, as well as other research questions
 

 

Qualifications

•    Master’s degree or doctorate in a subject with a quantitative element OR alternative qualifications / professional track record demonstrating quantitative competence, especially in relation to probability and statistics (required)
•    5+ years of work experience in a related role, including a strong track record of data-driven research and analysis of the relevance of climate, ESG or political risks for sovereign debt (required). 
•    Significant professional experience in sovereign debt asset management (preferred).
•    Advanced Excel skills (required)
•    Experience using Python for data analysis, including relevant statistics and visualizations libraries (preferred)
•    Advanced presentational and client-facing communication skills, including the ability to work well with Powerpoint (required), that translate into an ability to work confidently and effectively in a range of client-facing and external contexts, including conference presentations.
•    Advanced writing skills that translate into an ability to deliver analysis at a professional standard with a minimum of editorial intervention.
•    Flexibility and ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
•    Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to excellence
•    A collaborative attitude that will allow you to work well with both immediate colleagues and key teams across the wider business
