Job Description

Verisk 3E is looking for a Senior Director of IT Infrastructure to join the team in Carlsbad, CA.  

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Senior Director of IT Infrastructure works closely with infrastructure team members, application development teams, internal business leaders and vendor partners to develop, deploy and maintain an efficient infrastructure that best supports the companies service offerings while safeguarding the company’s intellectual property.

Infrastructure and services – Responsible for the implementation and operations of technology infrastructures, both on-premises and cloud deployments. The technology infrastructure responsibilities include network server services, database management, change management, service monitoring, telephony, user support/help desk, workstation management, servers, storage, security (malware/virus protection) and maintenance/service updates and related hardware/software management.

Works closely with infrastructure team members, application development teams, internal business leaders and vendor partners to develop, deploy and maintain an efficient Infrastructure that best supports the companies service offerings while safeguarding the company’s intellectual property.

Infrastructure availability - Responsible for ensuring that IT services are delivered efficiently and meet availability and performance standards 7 X 24 X 365. Availability responsibilities include disaster recovery readiness recovery planning and testing.

Security - Manage IT security and compliance. Responsible for IT risk management, IT policy compliance and IT security. Develop and maintain technology standards and operational processes based on industry best practices.

Talent management - Coach, mentor, and develop a team of talented IT professionals. Keep abreast of changes within Information Technology trends and strategies that may impact the business. Promote continuous learning and education of high impact technologies and emotional intelligence that improves team and individual performance.

Budget – Develops, maintains, tracks, and oversees CapEx and IT OpEx budgets and spend in alignment with business objectives. Develop business cases and related ROI to support technology investment and maturation, including the retirement of technical debt and continued progression to the cloud. Partner with IT vendors and business owners to optimize cost performance.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of proven hands-on management experience in technology leadership positions is required
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to motivate, lead, mentor and develop multi-disciplined high performance IT professionals and IT teams in support of a diverse and global customer base
  • Proven ability to inspire and maintain a positive atmosphere of innovation and success across diverse teams, embodying the shared values of the organization
  • A broad and working understanding of computing environments, operating systems, infrastructure platforms, LAN and WAN networks, integrated telecommunication platforms, call center systems, IaaS and SaaS offerings and solutions
  • Comprehensive understanding of information systems security administration, security architecture, security tools and technologies, industry standard controls and safeguards and risk-based review processes. Knowledge and experience with IT security standards and frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST 800-53, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure management and cloud migration strategies
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of key performance metrics (KPM) and key risk indicators (KRI) to manage the infrastructure
  • Well-developed planning, collaboration, problem solving, and budgeting skills to manage deliverables, budgets, and contracts
  • A proven track record of operating reliable, scalable, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure
  • Outstanding customer service attitude with strong work ethic
  • Excellent listening. written and verbal communication skills
  • BS Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or Business Administration with an emphasis in Information Technology
  • Security or risk management certifications are desired (CISM, CISSP, CGIET)
