Power and Renewables

Wood Mackenzie Power and Renewables provides integrated subscription, research and advisory services to inform and support our client’s commercial and strategic decisions in the complex and rapidly changing electric power industry.

Combining our deep knowledge of solar, wind, storage, and grid technologies, with our global power and fuels modelling and analytical capabilities, Wood Mackenzie can provide data and insight spanning supply chain, technology costs, policy and market issues, fundamentals-based outlooks, price forecasting, asset valuation, and commodity market issues.

Team Profile

This role will serve as part of Wood Mackenzie’s Energy Transition Practice, with a focus on offshore wind valuation. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team and play a key role in develop market leading tools for asset valuation. Our global offshore wind team is spread across the globe and provides market intelligence and analysis to players across the offshore wind value chain, including asset owners, developers, suppliers and investors.

Wood Mackenzie is a leading intelligence provider in the offshore wind space you will have access to 10+ years of offshore wind research, data and models that you will be able to leverage in your work. As asset valuation is the square root of much of our research, you will be able to leverage data, tools and expertise from across the wider Wood Mackenzie business as well.

Role Purpose

You will be responsible for research and analysis in our growing offshore wind practice, serving as an expert of global offshore wind asset valuation. That means that you will be driving the further buildout of Wood Mackenzie’s global offshore wind valuation services and in turn delivering a industry-leading tool for the offshore wind industry. You will conduct original quantitative and qualitative market research and deliver analysis through Wood Mackenzie’s Lens service, written reports, consulting engagements, client enquiries, and speaking engagements.

Main Responsibilities

Asset Valuation Model Development

  • Lead the expansion of Wood Mackenzie’s offshore wind valuation models, both in terms of structure and content
  • Collaborate with market experts across the world and our in-house engineers to develop the asset valuation tool
  • Monitor and maintain relevant data through secondary and primary research
  • Ensure the data quality and accuracy is continuously improved  

Research, Analysis and Report Writing: 

  • Lead and contribute to thought-leading research publications including but not limited to offshore wind, revenue dynamics, IRR analysis and insights on offshore wind tenders
  • Ensure all deliverables are executed and delivered in a timely fashion to a high standard

Networking and Industry collaboration  

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the industry and clients
  • Establish an industry presence as an influential speaker and thinker; build relationships with senior industry professionals – solar and wind project developers and EPCs, turbine OEMs, component suppliers and raw material suppliers as well as with the journalists who cover the sector; and participate in vendor briefings and press enquiries as necessary

Consulting engagement

  • Support and lead specific consulting assignments on offshore wind 

Business Development

  • Work directly with sales and marketing via internal and external communications to actively help generate new sales, build larger programs for existing clients, and effectively market completed research
  • Present at Wood Mackenzie and industry-sponsored events, and moderate client webinars

Qualifications

You come with experience from a wind, solar or other renewable company and have a deep understanding of the offshore wind sector, with knowledge and experience within the following areas:

  • Asset valuation of offshore wind assets
  • Discount cash flow modelling and IRR analysis
  • Asset model development
  • Levelised cost of energy (LCOE)
  • Revenue streams including support schemes

You have excellent analytical skills and an eye for detail and strong quantitative skills. You are commercially aware, have strong written and verbal communication skills.
