Role Purpose

Regardless of the scenario chosen, Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage, or CCUS, has inserted itself into the Energy Transition conversation over the course of the last few years.  In order to fill the short term objectives of reducing overall carbon emissions, industry and governments have turned their collective focus towards the achievable reductions provided by CCUS opportunities.  Whether for enhanced recovery or pure storage, carbon oxides will be injected into the subsurface in volumes that have never been seen before.  Our clients need our help to understand where the carbon can be stored safely underground and how they should go about selecting, developing and tracking those rapidly developing projects.

Woodmac is developing Lens Subsurface (LSS) which is designed to help upstream companies identify advantaged resources across the value chain – informing critical business decisions in service of building and maintaining Upstream portfolios that are resilient and sustainable through the Energy Transition.  Within Lens Subsurface will grow a new CCUS workstream that will enable our clients to leverage our collective project intelligence, screen for storage opportunities and find the nearest hub to their emissions source around the world.

You will be working closely with teams focused on the upstream side of the carbon businesses as we build out our portfolio of asset models, storage capacity calculations, business models and client-friendly industry tracking tools.  You bring a background in Reservoir Engineering, with experience in Acid Gas Injection systems, EOR screening and development and some commercial/exploratory business exposure.

    • Deliver timely updates of the critical projects, monthly in-brief analyses and quarterly tool updates
    • Collaborate on insights on global trends impacting CCUS including research and commentary on new technologies
  • Commercial
    • Ensure the integrity / quality of the global CCUS resources data; Look for new ways that clients look to use our data as the concept of the storage asset and portfolio continues to evolve
