Job Description

Verisk Maplecroft’s ESG+P country risk datasets are the core of the company’s offering. You will lead the country indices team and be responsible for maintaining and innovating those datasets in line with advancing data science techniques, the evolving global risk environment, and client requirements. Your numeracy skills, attention to detail, commercial awareness, project management and leadership skills will ensure that the datasets are delivered on time to clients with the highest level of accuracy. 
This will involve managing resources within the team, as well as working with others from across the business. As someone with strong quantitative skills, you will have the opportunity to be creative through supporting the development of new datasets that align with the company’s data strategy. You will support colleagues in the Sales team in helping clients to understand, use and maximize the value of the company’s data and occasionally support on Consulting projects. You will be based in Bath, Edinburgh or London and report to the Head of Analytics.

About the day to day responsibilities of the role

  • Owning the update cycle of the company’s country risk datasets.
  • Managing a team of analysts to ensure timely delivery of updates.
  • Prioritizing improvements to the country risk dataset based on client demand, feasibility, and expected return on investment.
  • Supporting colleagues and clients with questions on the datasets in collaboration with the wider Analytics team.
  • Working collaboratively with functions across the business including Technology, Consulting, Research and Product.
  • Authoring data-rich insights to show the value of the data.
  • Engaging with clients on a range of topics related to our country risk datasets.
  • Using your quantitative skills to help colleagues in Consulting deliver projects on time, on budget, that meet client needs.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree level (or equivalent) qualification in a subject with a quantitative element (required)
  • Flexibility and ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously (required)
  • Technical skills: Advanced Excel skills (required), experience using Python for data analysis including relevant statistics and visualizations libraries (preferred)
  • 1+ years’ experience of overseeing the work of more junior colleagues or formal line management experience (preferred)
  • 3+ years of work experience in a quantitative role (preferred)
  • Domain knowledge, either through qualifications or work experience, in one or several of human rights, politics, the environment, or economics. Relevant qualifications would include subjects such as environmental science, political science, international relations, economics etc. (preferred)
