Job Description

Verisk Maplecroft seeks a Head of Product to initiate, own and amplify the critical processes by which it ideates, develops and delivers new solutions and innovates new additions to its existing product portfolio. This covers both our corporate and investor clients. Grounded in client needs and cross-functional internal alignment, the Head of Product will collaboratively create, plan, communicate and measure the deliberate pursuit of a complete product roadmap.

This role will provide the opportunity for the individual to build and shape the team structure to ensure optimal alignment delivering on our business strategy. This is a senior-level role that also sits on Verisk Maplecroft’s Leadership Team with the further responsibility of influencing the overall strategic direction of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and development of Verisk Maplecrofts’ complete portfolio of products and services.
  • Define the product vision in tight alignment with its business strategy, translating that vision into a disciplined development roadmap and communicating it clearly across the organization.
  • Build and/or oversee market assessments, competitive analyses and business cases as a part of investment focus and roadmap construction. Drive alignment and accountability amidst clear tradeoffs.
  • Create internal operating processes, key metrics and communication tools for all aspects of the product development engine. Define and monitor relevant KPls to achieve leadership objectives in the areas of new product innovation and associated revenue recognition.
  • Digest and balance inputs from all relevant internal and external stakeholders, including customers, partners, relationship teams, business development teams, operational/technology teams and the Leadership Team. As output, synthesize one focused, prioritized and coherent product roadmap with efficient execution in mind.
  • Discover and validate customer problems based on rigorous product management frameworks and techniques and turn them into actionable strategies with your team
  • Work seamlessly and collaboratively across business development, relationship management, operations/technology and marketing/communications, balancing alignment with objective prioritization, timeliness and deliberate focus.
  • Maintain a deep, detailed understanding of Maplecroft’s business and value delivery, engaging regularly with clients and prospects to continuously import the “Voice of the Customer.”
  • Maintain clear expertise in Sustainability, Resilience & ESG market dynamics as well as opportunities ahead, including logical expansion considerations. Participate in the due diligence study of potential business/product acquisitions. Embrace a “build/buy/partner” mentality with a steadfast focus on the efficient production of revenue-generating solutions.
  • Refine and lead a high-performance product management organization, driven by tangible results. Hire, manage, promote, mentor and scale a team incentivized to deliver results.
  • Foster and maintain important relationships externally across the industry and represent the “face of the product” for Maplecroft in the broader ecosystem.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience building world-class customer-facing software in a Product Management role
  • A proven track record of building and managing diverse and talented teams
  • The desire to drive transformational change in how companies manage sustainability & resilience risk and drive action through data
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to gather data, both qualitative and quantitative, emerge with insights, and make and communicate well-reasoned decisions
  • Technical fluency that enables you to creatively explore possibilities and challenge constraints with engineering, with demonstrated ability to earn the respect of talented engineers
  • Demonstrated strategy development, planning, and operational execution, drawing on insight across areas, applying creative as well as systematic approach. Passion for new solutions, ability to assess practicality and feasibility
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively engaging at all levels of organization, management systems, business case development.
  • Exceptional communicator with ability to authentically and effectively engage across the organization and with clients
