    About this Role

    Are you an experienced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions professional who is passionate about developing technology and delivering unique insights? Are you interested in working directly with global energy and natural resource companies to reduce emissions? Do you want to have a measurable impact and help build sustainable supply chains?

    The Market Intelligence Group is looking for a greenhouse gas and carbon expert who can help our clients understand and reduce their Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. This role will support a lean team developing a GHG accounting and reduction platform for energy and natural resource companies. You will contribute technical expertise to improve our data driven product solutions and support the implementation of these solutions with client facing responsibilities. Furthermore, you will analyze complex information to find useful insights and connections to help clients make better decisions and will work alongside our data science group, development teams, consulting partners, account directors and customer success teams, while also directly interfacing with our customers.

    About the Market Intelligence Group

    The Market Intelligence Group (MIG) is a team responsible for managing the market insights delivered through our suite of software-as-a-service products, including price benchmarking, escalation, forecasting, commodity exposure, supplier and other category insights across all goods and services procured globally by the energy and natural resource industry. These insights are most often leveraged to identify opportunities to save money and reduce risks. We are a hybrid group that wears many hats: consultant, economist, market researcher, data analyst and product owner. In our hybrid role, we collaborate closely with all teams in the company, including product development, data science, client services, sales & marketing and customer success, among others.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    General Market Intelligence Group Responsibilities

    • Serve as primary point of contact for MIG clients as an expert on PowerAdvocate products and the energy and natural resource industries
    • Support the sales process including development of a compelling value proposition, solution development, proposal development and product demonstrations
    • Work closely with PowerAdvocate’s proprietary platform and with other experts to develop price forecasts and make market analysis recommendations to our clients
    • ·Work closely with PowerAdvocate’s proprietary data to help customers transition to lower carbon footprints, provide pricing insights, and develop risk solutions
    • Perform data extraction, manipulation, cleaning, analysis, and audit of large datasets, relying on well-structured procedures and maintaining reproducibility of results
    • Combine existing data in new ways. Cleanse and enrich data to make it more powerful. Pioneer new ways to analyze and visualize data

    The MIG Analyst contributes as part of an Agile Scrum team, in a fast-paced environment with high visibility to the rest of the company

    • Collaborate with other team members to drive continuous improvement of our product and processes
    • Identifies roadblocks and demonstrates the ability to provide recommendations for practical solutions. 
    • Bring thought leadership by assessing the industry and the broader business environment to account for customer preferences, industry trends, market conditions, and business needs.
    • Ability to work across multi-functional teams with competing priorities while still delivering key objectives within given time constraints
    • Excellent communication, relationship management, and decision-making skills

    Carbon Solution Analyst Responsibilities

    • Identify opportunities and strategies for emissions reductions
    • Serve as the in-house expert in Greenhouse Gas Protocol, carbon accounting, and Sustainability disclosure to internal and external stakeholders
    • Understand and manage compliance needs required to account for GHG Emissions
    • Strong business acumen with the ability to present and explain technical information to various customer stakeholders

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 2 – 10 years’ experience in the energy sector, natural resource sector, supply chain or sustainability solutions
    • Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and time management skills with attention to detail
    • Ability to learn quickly and adapt based on the needs of clients and PowerAdvocate
    • Enjoys organizing large data sets, identifying discrepancies, and making appropriate adjustments
    • Experience with programming, data proofing, mining, and cleaning is a plus
    • Strong interpersonal skills with success in a team environment
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
    • Experience in a client-facing role a plus
    • Applicable Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Engineering with a quantitative, statistical, and/or economics focus

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience with Carbon Accounting (GHGP, WRI, GHG disclosures (ISO 14064), audit)
    • Certifications from standard setters like WRI, ISO, GHGP, SBTi, TCFD, etc.
    • Experience with Agile Methodologies
    • Python, R skills

    Travel Requirements:

    There will be minimal travel requirements. Occasional opportunities or requests will arise to visit clients and conferences for a combination of training, sales and business development interests.
