    Job Description

    Reporting to PowerAdvocate’s Vice President, Product Operations, the Scrum Master plays a key role in ensuring and helping teams meet their commitments using Agile methods. They will guide the teams to work using Agile Principles, remove impediments for the team and foster self-organization with the teams. The Scrum Master will act as a mentor to the team.

    Our Agile environment is a strategic structure within PowerAdvocate to accomplish software development and business projects.  Currently nine (9) business teams work in an Agile manner to meet client commitments.  Additionally, the Software Development and DevOps groups operates using a Kanban environment.  The Scrum Master serves as a driving force for Agile & Scrum methodology throughout the organization identifying new areas where Agile will improve business outcomes.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In addition to the following, other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

    • Work as a servant leader with assigned teams
    • Facilitate and/or witness team meetings–Planning, Stand-ups, and Retrospectives
    • Provide support to team members, Product Owners, and business stakeholders
    • Ensure software development lifecycle processes are followed and support continuous improvements
    • Ensure business processes are inspected and adapted accordingly
    • Ensure that the team’s progress is updated daily through the team’s status board to provide visibility to the organization
    • Promote a collaborative team environment that fosters creativity, innovation, transparency, and self-organization.
    • Promote continuous improvement to help teams increase productivity and nurture innovation
    • Mentor team members on Agile principles and practices
    • Develop and execute workshops to enhance Agile learnings.
    • Provide continuous communication with PowerAdvocate’s leadership identifying opportunities for Agile Methodologies to promote continuous process improvements that improve project delivery and efficiency

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Understands Scrum and Agile Methodologies and applications
    • Has a basic understanding of the software development lifecycle
    • Demonstrates strong facilitation and presentation skills in leading planning meetings, reviews, and retrospectives
    • Can successfully work independently with limited supervision and with other department personnel in a time-sensitive work environment
    • Possesses strong time and priority management skills
    • Has excellent verbal, written, and listening abilities
    • Is a team player with strong team building skills
    • Uses collaboration in driving decisions
    • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills to work with diverse personalities
    • Is self-motivated as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems
    • Has a “do-what-it-takes” attitude in a start-up environment
    • Can multi-task and deal with multiple projects and deadlines
    • Brings strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail

    EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

    • 5 or more years business experience
    • Certified Agile Coach or Scrum Practitioner desired
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science, MBA preferred
    • Experience in the energy industry beneficial
