Job Description

Sequel Broking is one of our market-leading products which offers an end to end solution focused on Brokers and MGAs, who operate largely within the Lloyd's and London Insurance Market. With the backing of our holding company (Verisk Analytics) - we are growing our product to meet the complexities of the rapidly evolving MGA market. 

The focus of this role is to play Lead / Senior / Specialist  Business Analyst in delivery focused projects, leveraging strong client-side experience in the broking and MGA market.

NB: We would consider full time or contracting options - but all candidates MUST reside in London and be eligible to work in the UK

This is a customer-facing role, working directly within a dedicated team of specialists (Malaga-based developers, QA/testers), and with access to London-based project managers, Head of Product etc,  working in an Agile/ scrum environment.

You can expect to:

1. Work closely as a partner to key customers to frame their software requirements, bringing an understanding of the broking / MGA landscape to process modelling;

2. leveraging insights such as London Market integration, and treaty processing   

3. bring credibility to your understanding of the challenges being faced in the Broking / MGA market, specifically relating to digitising the business

4. act as a knowledge source for more junior team members - guiding their understanding of the business case

On a day-to-day basis, you'll

  • work with the Product Owner and Product Head, own the business analysis accountability, working as a specialist, or in a team of analysts, alongside developers and testers, typically to AGILE principles
  • provide informed analysis of business processes, functions and procedures to determine the most effective business systems technology that meet the needs of the customer /product implementation
  • establish systems specifications and objectives, based on business requirements, providing recommendations to stakeholders
  • manage customer expectations, consulting/problem-solving to entrench a relationship built on trust and delivery
  • participate in design and requirements gathering meetings to identify business solutions
  • work with technical resources to ensure the accurate translation of specifications into workable application code
  • support junior BAs or directly create Test Cases and Test Scenarios

You will be challenged both technically (shaping the software product to meet roadmap and customer expectations), and in the development of your business understanding (entrenching knowledge of broker and MGA-led business processes and workflow optimisation as they apply to the London Insurance Market).

Qualifications

This role requires some non-negotiable foundation experience:

We are looking for candidates with:

1.a deep understanding of the workings of the London Insurance Broking and MGA Market (we envisage candidates will have upwards of 10 years broking / software development for broking applications, experience)

2. broking software experience (extensive user experience, change specialist for broking software innovation or enhancement, business analyst) 

3. an appetite for simple and effective innovation - able to articulate this to different audiences

4. experience in the full software delivery lifecycle - high level to detailed scoping of requirements, test driven analysis and development, elegant configuration tooling, through to go live

5. communication and collaboration style that lends itself to working with diverse stakeholders: end users, technical teams, commercially led stakeholders etc. Strong verbal and written communication skills

6.A good attitude : flexible, a good listener, curious about new ways of working, pragmatic about how to best get the job delivered optimally
