Job Description

The Wood Mackenzie Energy Transition Practice provides a one-stop integrated subscription, analysis and advisory service for companies in the energy and related sectors, enabling our clients to make the best decisions within a constantly evolving global energy industry.

Our cutting-edge knowledge of solar, wind and energy storage supply chains, technology, and investment trends, added to in-depth modelling and coverage of traditional power and fuels markets, give Wood Mackenzie a unique advantage to offer best-in-class market forecasting and insights. 

We have a dynamic and expanding team in Asia Pacific, which is already the largest regional power market in the world. The region is expected to contribute two thirds of future electricity demand growth and play a leading role in deployment of renewable energy. 

We are looking for Power and Renewables Student Researcher to join our Beijing or Shanghai offices on an ongoing basis. This role is targeting full-time work in the summer and 1 day of work per week during school term. Specific location and timing can be flexible for highly qualified candidates.

This is an exciting opportunity for a high-caliber student to gain experience and work with leading companies and industry experts in the energy transition space.  You will collaborate with our team of experienced power & renewables professionals who are responsible for delivering an expanding range of data and analysis to over 500 wind, solar, storage and power clients worldwide.  This position requires the ability to learn fast and apply new knowledge to a broad range of data, analysis and research projects.

The role is ideal for a student in final or penultimate year of study and is an excellent starting point for full-time roles at Wood Mackenzie and in the wider power and renewables industry.

Main Responsibilities

·       Tracking price, product, project, company and other market data

·       Supporting delivery of client deliverables including databases and market reports

·       Analysing trends and data using Wood Mackenzie’s in-house datasets, tools and models

·       Supporting colleagues on the power and renewables team

Qualifications

·       Must be a registered student working towards a master's degree or PhD and  expected to graduate in 2022 or 2023.  Analytical degree subjects are preferred including science, engineering, finance and economics.  

·       Must be able to work from Beijing or Shanghai offices.

·       Enthusiasm and interest in energy, power & renewables. Academic or work experience in energy or power and renewables is desirable

·       International outlook and interest in global trends

·       Effective team worker, able to work in an open and trusting way with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·       High quality work standards and attention to detail

·       Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills

·       Results oriented, quick learner with a flexible approach towards work

·       Good written and spoken communication skills in English and Chinese.

·       The ability to work professionally in an Asian language such as Japanese and/or Korean is a benefit
