Job Description

We are looking for a full-time Director – Power Markets Research to lead Wood Mackenzie's Energy Transition Practice (ETP) Power Solutions team in Boston, MA. The team's research spans power market fundamentals and price forecasting to asset valuation and strategy that comprises some of the most highly utilized data, reports, and insights across Wood Mackenzie. The team is comprised of Power Market Analysts and Meteorologists, focusing on short-term power market fundamentals, including congestion analysis and price forecasting using a blend of proprietary and public data. In addition, teammates are industry experts who are detail-oriented, intellectually curious, commercially savvy, and comfortable presenting to clients. Our broad industry knowledge and granular understanding of North American power markets are unparalleled, giving our clients the information and data needed to make critical decisions in both their day-to-day operations and through the energy transition. 

Responsibilities

The Director – Power Markets Research will have a strong background in power markets modeling and price forecasting. They will provide thought leadership and mentorship to the teams delivering industry-leading short-term power price and congestion forecasts. The successful candidate will also aid the commercial activities of the product, working directly with the sales and marketing teams to drive revenue growth through hands-on leadership of customer success and product enhancements and improvements.

Another key responsibility is building and leading a high-performance team, effectively motivating and mentoring teammates to achieve positive results. In addition, you are adept at team resource management and prioritization, particularly coordinating and negotiating within a larger internal group.    
 

Qualifications

•    Minimum of 5 years of experience in power market modeling and price forecasting in a Trading, Analyst, Lead Analyst, or Research Manager role
•    Minimum of 3 years of experience successfully leading a team or an overall group that contained at least 5+ people 
•    Strong preference for experience in both being a contributor and leader of a team that works with customers, sales, and marketing to ensure services, data, and analytics meet customer's satisfaction
•    Understanding of power market forecasting and analysis competitors and their advantages and disadvantages to Woodmac's services to drive and contribute to strategy
•    Experience in providing people leadership through career growth and plans for the team
•    You are committed to contributing to a welcoming and inclusive environment, are sensitive to diverse perspectives, and are passionate about equity in the workplace.
