Job Description

As Data Analyst you will play a key role with the Verisk Analytics Product team to help create data requirements, manage data validation, document processes and oversee data quality operations. The role will require collaboration with key stakeholders within Verisk while building a client-first ethos. This role will require elicitation and documentation of requirements for product data initiatives. The successful candidate will have strong technical expertise and experience working with users, engineers, and data scientists.

The day to day responsibilities of this role are:

  • Create test cases to assess the functionality, reliability, performance, and quality of the data in the product
  • Regularly perform UI and API testing across different application environments
  • Identify and prioritize bugs
  • Maintain bug reports for UI and API testing
  • Support end to end Quality Assurance
  • Validating NLP and Machine Learning model outputs for qualitative and quantitative tests
  • Followup with development teams on fixes for identified data problems
  • Investigate end-user complaints and data issues
  • Collaborate with other business analysts/product managers, engineers, and end-users to define product requirements and identify product business use cases
  • Clearly articulate issues to the engineering team
  • Documentation of data processes and expected results
  • Create and maintain metadata through querying of Public Data Sources
  • Stay on top of industry updates through self-learning.
  • Engage with users to test, evaluate and strategize on opportunities to evolve the product experience
  • Share advances, methodologies, and best practices amongst the Analytics Community

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Math, Engineering or an analytics related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 1-year experience in Data Science, Data Engineering or Product Development; Analytics Product experience preferred
  • Experience in a few of the following areas/fields/technologies is preferred
    • Querying SQL, DynamoDB, Elastic Search, Postgres
    • AWS, Azure or GCP
    • Big Data Platforms
    • Tableau, PowerBI
  • Experienced in different types of QA testing
    • Front-end UI
    • Back-end APIs
  • Proficiency in testing APIs using Postman, Talend, JMeter, or similar tools
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills – written and in-person
  • Proficiency with Excel, CSV, and parquet files
  • Positive and strong team player with a good work ethic
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team environment 
  • Thrives in a flexible work environment with a geographically distributed team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong Data Management and ETL skills
  • Curiosity in understanding the flow of data from one table to the next
  • Meticulous attention to detail for identifying gaps in data
