We are looking for a Senior Technical Lead to join our team and lead our backend development. As a part of the client solutions team at Verisk Maplecroft you will be a part of the team charged with using technology to create, collate and deliver data analytics and intelligence to our clients. We are primarily a Python/Django house with an angular front end. We recently moved to AWS and our approach to technology and development is constantly evolving. We are looking to build a team that is able to utilize cloud computing to develop new workflows, features and tools that give our clients the information they need to make the right decisions to create a more sustainable and resilient world.

Core Capabilities

·       Hands-On expertise in enterprise technology applications architecture, design, development and support. Act as a subject matter expert as it pertains to backend architecture and work with cross-functional teams.

·       Great management and team development skills; delegate intelligently, mentor engineers, deliver frequent and honest feedback, help team members grow in their careers and deliver results.

·       Expertise and interest in growing teams: interviewing junior and senior engineers, collaborating with recruiting, smoothly onboarding new team members.

·       Good software engineering methodology: meaningful and deeply-rooted opinions about testing and code quality, ability to make sound quality/speed trade-offs.

·       Passionate about writing code (yes you will write code).

·       Solid knowledge of applications performance improvement techniques and caching solutions.

·       Experience developing with web-based applications and client-facing API’s

·       Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills.

·       Exceptional technical skills in backend engineering. Including highly experienced with back-end programming languages {Ex: PythonDjango, Java etc} and experience in AWS or cloud technologies

·       Excellent collaboration and communication skills. Ability to work in a cross-functional team of Data Scientists, Dev-Ops, Front End and Product Development.

·       Desire to work in an entrepreneurial setting. Highly flexible and responsive to business and client needs.
