Wood Mackenzie Chemicals provides integrated commercial and strategic subscription research and consultancy services for the chemicals, fibres, films, and plastics sectors. We provide insight combined with proprietary data, helping companies identify trends and take advantage of opportunities. Together, we inspire and innovate the markets we serve. The Chemicals business is expanding rapidly and is a key vector of growth for Wood Mackenzie.
About the role
You will be an important member of the Chemicals Research business, leading our South and Southeast Asian coverage of the polyester (both virgin and recycled) and related markets. You will focus on analysing market fundamentals: supply, demand, price and profitability trends. You will produce and contribute to high-quality analyses in the form of thought-provoking reports, presentations and articles, and will also contribute to bespoke consulting projects. You will also participate and speak at major industry events and conferences (virtually and in-person).
Through your research and insight, you will have the opportunity to be at the forefront of the polyester industry. You will identify and diagnose the key themes impacting our customers, understand the market dynamics that separate winners from losers, provide advice to senior executives and lead the development of our sustainability-focused offerings.
About you and how you can excel in this role
You are passionate about commodities and/or chemicals and you want to develop further your understanding of the energy sector. You have an analytical mindset and an eye for detail, which has been proven in your academic and work experience to date. You are comfortable collecting and interpreting data, articulating your findings in a clear and insightful manner. You have a flair for writing and communication and confidence in presenting to an audience.
You are looking for a role where you can build on your existing knowledge and learn from others in a collaborative, commercial and customer-centric environment. You enjoy sharing with others what you have learnt.
You can work independently and as part of a team, generating ideas you want to share internally and with clients. The way in which you work is productive and driven, striving to be best in class.
If you are looking for a new opportunity in chemicals, or to expand your existing network of customers and contacts in the industry, then this role will enable you to use your effective client engagement skills.
You have a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Excel in particular). In addition to fluency in written and spoken English, knowledge of at least one Asian language would be an advantage.
