About the Role

Your position as a Catastrophe Modeling Product Consultant in the product management team will be responsible for contributing to the success of AIR’s risk modeling platform and products by participating in product planning, requirement development and implementation activities. You will serve as product owner for multiple scrum teams involved in product development.  You will interact with model developers, client support teams and AIR clients and serve as a subject matter expert to help guide product development.

About the Day to Day Responsibilities of the Role

  • Be the evangelist for development of product features for the reinsurance and ILS market workflows by identifying key market needs.
  • Perform market research and review the competitive landscape to identify product gaps as well as opportunities to improve product position in the market.
  • Define the target audience of who we are building for by mapping product feature needs with target markets and analyze market segments needs based on business case.
  • Identify target clients for engagement and ideate based on customer use case and AIR vision.
  • Build relationships and partnerships with clients and prospects.
  • Work directly with internal/external stakeholders including other Product managers and external customers to understand client workflows, product needs and become the “voice of the customer”.
  • Create product and model requirements documents (Epics).
  • Independent product owner one or more scrum teams including: maintaining the team backlog and ticket prioritization and maintenance, working with Product Manager on use case development; driving new features to definitions of ready (DOR) and ensuring team deliverables meet the minimum definition of done (DOD). Remove obstacles to enable the scrum team to maintain a high team velocity.
  • Demonstrations to internal and external stakeholders, presentations and discussions with clients about products.
  • Participate in user conferences, seminars, webinars and client meetings
  • Advocate for Product management best practices and process improvements.

Qualifications

•            3-5 years of insurance industry experience, including related exposure data, financial terms and catastrophe modeling workflows with reinsurance and/or ILS workflows.

•            Strong business analysis acumen for product development

•            Experience working with catastrophe modeling software applications a must.

•            Highly passionate, go-getter, strong analytical skills, quantitative and problem-solving ability;

•            Self-motivated and quick learner, with good organization and time management skills; can work independently

•            Excellent presentation and written communication skills

•            BS degree in technical (e.g., engineering, science, math, computer science, statistics or closely related program of study) or business fields.  Advanced degree preferred.
