Job Description

The project manager will be responsible for planning and overseeing multiple concurrent development projects related to our weather solutions. Our products are scientific in nature and some background working with scientific products, especially those in the earth sciences field, would be beneficial. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with product managers and customers to clarify project scope and objectives
  • Work with both software and scientific development teams to successfully deliver projects
  • Work to remove roadblocks from the development teams to facilitate successful project outcomes
  • Manage day-to-day progress of the development teams, including effectively running daily stand-up meetings
  • Keep project stakeholders up to date on project status and updates
  • Establish project management best practices
  • Develop and maintain measurement criteria for effectively managing projects and development team resources, including identifying areas for improvement
  • Develop and maintain a detailed project plan, including timelines and planned resources
  • Clearly document and communicate project plans and statuses, including identification of risks and steps to mitigate these risks
  • Prepare project budgets and track project costs
  • Work across organizational boundaries to coordinate resources and deliver cross-departmental projects
  • Assist product managers in prioritizing backlog issues / projects

Qualifications

  • At least 6 years relevant project management and agile development experience
  • BA/BS in business or technical field (e.g. meteorology, computer science) or equivalent work-related experience and training
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, common diagramming tools (e.g. Visio, Lucidchart), and project/issue management tools (e.g. Project, Gitlab, Jira)
  • Basic familiarity with high-level scripting and/or macro generation for automation of project tracking though Microsoft office or other graphical presentation tools
  • Understanding of and experience with project and development lifecycles
  • Familiarity with software development life practices such as Agile or Kanban
  • Ability to manage integration, scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, communication, risks, procurement, and stakeholders as it relates to projects
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
