Job Description

Are you an experienced risk control professional with proven ability working in a fast-paced environment? Are you looking to utilize your leadership skills and knowledge in fire protection systems, building construction, loss control, and related disciplines providing risk analysis, development of policies and practices, conduct research among others? Do you like working in a collaborative environment?

 

We have an immediate opening for a Director of Risk Engineering in commercial property.

 

Responsibilities

· Manage and lead the Risk Engineering and Data Quality Group.

· Responsible for the development and maintenance of commercial property risk assessment and pricing methodology.

· Responsible for quality control of proprietary commercial property database and related data collection processes and workflow.

· Lead the engineering efforts for the development of products and analytics for underwriting and pricing purposes for commercial property.

· Manage the development and maintenance of procedures and guidance related to field operations for building and community mitigation surveys.

· Prepares, presents and distributes clear technical communications on technical subjects

· Collaboration with multiple internal and external stakeholders to support key initiatives and strategies.

Qualifications

· Minimum BS degree in fire protection, mechanical or civil/structural engineering. Advanced degree preferred.

· Professional Engineer (PE) designation.

· Ten (10) years or more experience in risk control with a thorough understanding of the commercial property insurance marketplace including insurance rating and associated underwriting practices and issues.

· Minimum two (2) years of team management experience preferred.

· Excellent business acumen and outstanding leadership skills, with the ability to provide direction for multi-disciplinary teams. Strong negotiation skills, with a demonstrated track record of success. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization with varying levels of technical skill

· Strong analytic skill with knowledge of predictive modeling, probabilities and statistical analyses.

· Solid knowledge in fire dynamics, fire water supply, building fire suppression systems, building construction materials and technologies related to fire and natural perils.

· Familiar with or understanding of national building codes and standards (ICC), NFPA codes and standards, and other national industry standards (FM, ASCE, etc.).Working knowledge or familiarization with national building codes and standards (ICC), knowledge and understanding of fire and life safety codes including NFPA and other national industry standards (FM).
