Job Description
We are looking for a Research Analyst to join Wood Mackenzie’s Power and Renewables Research team in EMEARC (Europe, Middle East, Africa, Russia and Caspian) regions, covering solar power markets in the region. The Power and Renewables Research Team forms part of our Energy Transition Practice and is a highly respected group of analysts producing market-leading research on the entire renewable energy value chain, covering solar PV, onshore and offshore wind, energy storage and power markets. Our cutting-edge knowledge of solar PV supply chains, costs, deployments, and investment trends further strengthens Wood Mackenzie's offerings in the market during this rapidly changing time in the energy sector.
You will be responsible for analysis of a sub-group of solar PV markets in the region, focusing on analysis of solar market demand side developments. You will be the internal and external point of contact for solar power in these markets. Key responsibilities of the role will include writing reports, aggregating and summarising project-level datasets, communicating with key industry stakeholders, tracking solar market activity in a subset of EMEARC markets and forecasting installation volumes and pricing trends. You will work closely with other analysts across the team to ensure the timely and accurate provision of all relevant data.
You will be expected to conduct original quantitative and qualitative research on the market and deliver analysis through written reports, public speaking, addressing customer inquiries and custom research engagements and/or consulting projects. You will also be expected to correspond with, present to, and advise main stakeholders within the solar industry on analysis regarding the solar power landscape and general market dynamics.
- Monitor and maintain relevant solar data for the region by conducting primary and secondary desk research on solar power markets in EMEARC, including market dynamics, policy trends, business models, market developments and financial strategies
- Own and be the project lead on regional and global research products
- Contribute to the global quarterly solar power market outlook by producing an annual installation forecast for a subset of EMEARC markets over a 10-year period
- Liaise on an ongoing basis with the broader Energy Transition Practice to ensure the timely and accurate provision of all relevant data, analyses and forecasts for all research publications
- Collaborate with other analysts globally to leverage best practices across the organization
- Support global LCoE research efforts with input for your group of solar markets in the EMEARC region
- Originate, lead and write brief and timely insights regarding new market trends, strategies and other developments across EMEARC solar markets
- Establish an industry presence as an influential speaker and thinker and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in EMEARC solar markets
- Support specific consulting assignments related to solar power in EMEARC as needed
Qualifications
- You must be thoughtful, intellectually curious, creative and comfortable presenting to public audiences and interacting with small and large groups of executives.
- You have an analytical mindset and an eye for detail, which has been proven in your work experience to date, therefore you are comfortable taking complex, disparate ideas and distil them into simple, provocative concepts.
- You can communicate these ideas and concepts to audiences in an engaging way, verbally and in writing.
- You are a strong team player and a natural self-starter who can work independently and generate the ideas you want to share by leveraging and expanding your industry network.
- You are comfortable disrupting your routine as you will be constantly looking to learn and provide in-depth analysis on industry trends and innovative market dynamics.
- An understanding of renewable energy and an enthusiasm for the subject is essential, prior experience of the solar industry in a commercial environment or during your academic studies would be an advantage.
- Fluency in another language, particularly Spanish, French and German, would also be beneficial. An ability to financially evaluate investment patterns in the solar industry through techniques such as cost modelling analysis and IRR analysis will also be helpful in this role.
