About the Position 
We are currently seeking to fill the position of Sr. Project-Product Specialist within the Verisk Insurance Solutions unit. The ideal candidate is highly inquisitive, organized and detail oriented, can think strategically and will be able to learn our business logic. 
 
The Sr. Project-Product Specialist position will be responsible for various analytical and operational product management related duties and will learn and apply auto insurance fundamentals. This includes responding to internal and external customers as well as regularly perform recurring and ad-hoc analyses to research inquiries and to identify systemic issues or improvements and help guide strategic decisions using tools such as: SQL, Tableau and Excel. Additionally, the Specialist is also responsible for helping create value as identified for various areas within the organization (product, operations, sales). 
 
Responsibilities: 

  • Analyzing large data sets and making recommendations based on findings 

  • Producing recurring and ad-hoc reports, both internal and customer-facing 

  • Becoming a product expert in our various underwriting solutions 

  • Performing some operational functions as necessary 

  • Producing requirements documents for new products/product enhancements that are result of our analytical exercises 

  • Working closely with teams in San Francisco and Jersey City - some travel may be required, a few times a year 

  • Coordinate project or program requirements for workflow-related projects. Identify the problem or opportunity and desired results by asking insightful and targeted questions. Serve as liaison between users and development group. 

  • Initiate medium projects with moderate complexity by conducting stakeholder interviews and meetings, gaining stakeholder buy-in and clearly defining sponsor expectations. 

  • Meet and understand project needs. Clearly explain the roles, responsibilities and procedures of all participants. Effectively manage the project. Respond promptly to problems. 

  • Project autonomy in managing end-to-end sub-projects or small to medium projects. Project activation and team task assignment authority. 

  • Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned. 

 

 

Compensation:

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • College degree or equivalent experience required with at least 5 years of applied experience 

  • Excellent research skills 

  • Effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills 

  • Detail-oriented and well-organized with exceptional analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills 

  • Proficient in working in deadline-driven situations 

  • Juggle multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; particularly Excel and Outlook.  

  •  Familiarity with Tableau is a plus 

  • Property/Casualty insurance experience preferred 

  • Ability to work independently with or without management direction.
