Job Description

Wood Mackenzie has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Digital & Content Marketing to join a fast paced, dynamic global business to help drive change and innovation. This is an opportunity for a forward looking individual to apply their expertise to shaping the digital & content vision & team to help drive revenue, increase engagement and provide a better understanding of customer and visitor behaviour.

Specifically, we seek an individual with the experience and entrepreneurial drive required to build a team of subject matter experts to help execute on a renewed digital & content strategy that will help drive sizable growth for the company.

The role holder will work closely with senior leadership and needs to be comfortable working with teams across Marketing, Technology, Product, Sales, Infrastructure as well as the C-Suite.

Role Purpose

The successful candidate will run a team of people who are focused on developing and executing on the digital and content strategy for the company. They will need to work closely with our Technology and Infrastructure teams to align on projects, resources and tools, and should have a solid knowledge of digital marketing tools, thought leadership creation & amplification, and digital media programs. The functions this role will manage will include: Digital & Social, eCommerce, Digital Media, Content Marketing, Custom Content Creation & Greentech Media Journalists.

About the Day to Day Responsibilities of the Role

Main Responsibilities of the Digital & Content Team:

  • Manage all our digital web properties to support business objectives (e.g. revenue generation, eCommerce, contact acquisition, content engagement, brand presence, capability awareness etc)
  • Create and manage the content strategy for thought leadership creation & amplification
  • Work with Research teams on the various content channels to market – what, why, how, who, KPIs, impact
  • Run the Digital Media program – sponsorships, custom content, advertising
  • Manage all SEO/SEM activity
  • Create a strategy for insightful data reporting for digital & content that drives action and helps optimize budget
  • Coordinate with other Marketing functions to deliver an online strategy for programs, campaigns, events, product launches etc
  • Create and deliver a social strategy
  • Ecommerce strategy and P&L responsibility
  • Building out customized and personalized digital experiences
  • Work with business stakeholders to define and quantify requirements, dimension and provide business-case for solutions.  
  • Build and lead a function commensurate with the above.
  • Secure and manage budget commensurate with the above.
  • Act as SME adviser to CMO and wider executive leadership team.
  • Role will be part of Marketing leadership team and role-holder will have general senior management responsibilities, e.g. driving company or departmental initiatives.

Qualifications

About You and How You Can Excel in This Role

To be successful in this role you will have;

  • 10+ years in Digital Marketing
  • Experience of managing a budget and driving a strategic investment plan
  • The ability to hire, develop and retain a high-performance team
  • Technical experience of CMS – particularly Epi
  • Strong digital skills across tools, platforms, processes and emerging technology
  • Highly evolved communication skills and an ability to translate technical Information into business language
  • Experience of using web analytics and optimization tools
  • Experience of senior stakeholder management – including C level
  • Experience of requirements gathering and building out business cases
  • Proven project management skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively & drive innovation
  • Experience of working with development teams using Agile framework
  • Experience of working with digital agencies and network of freelancers
  • It will be beneficial if you have some experience with;
    • CRM and Marketing Automation platforms – Salesforce & Pardot
    • Customer Data Platforms (CDP) - BlueConic
    • Knowledge of the energy & commodity markets
