Job Description

 

 

This Senior Developer position is part of an Analytics Center of Excellence team providing machine learning/AI for a suite of SaaS products. The developer will work closely with a team of Data Scientists and other Software Engineers to embed cutting-edge AI into these products by building loosely coupled, cloud-based microservices.

 

The successful candidate will bring engineering rigor, software development expertise, and application architecture know-how to our Engineering team. The candidate will be expected to be lead development efforts for complex new AI services, interact with business stakeholders, and provide leadership for other developers (including some offshore). Data Science and AI skills are not required for this position as we’re looking for software development expertise to complement our existing AI & Machine Learning team; however, experience working with Data Scientists and/or developing software with an AI component is highly valued.

 

Our microservices are written in Python and run primarily on AWS Lambda (serverless). They rely heavily on other AWS services such as S3, RDS, and DynamoDB. Knowledge of cloud-based application architectures and cloud services upon which production-grade AI services can be built is highly desired.

 

The Sr. Developer may also provide occasional support to the development of a front-end application (Angular) that makes these analytics services directly available to business users.

 

 

Requirements:

·         Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or similar

·         5+ years of software development experience building high scalable web applications and APIs

·         At least 2 years of Python experience

·         Ability to lead the development of complex features and interact with non-technical business leaders

·         Experience architecting / building applications that incorporate machine learning models very highly desired

·         Hands-on experience with AWS Services (Lambda, API Gateway, EC2, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, EKS etc.) and AWS SDKs/CLI strongly desired

·         Knowledge of database systems such as relational databases and noSQL database such as DynamoDB

·         Experience with all phases of the software development life cycle, best practices and Agile Software Development

·         Experience with DevOps including CI/CD desired

·         Ability to write effective test cases, unit testing

·         Demonstrated ability to produce technical specifications, design and documentation

·         Ability to learn and adapt new technologies

Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) a plus
