Job Description

Head of Asia Pacific (APAC) Markets – Gas & LNG

We are looking for a Research Director to lead our APAC Gas Markets team, within our Global Gas & LNG practice. Our Asia Pacific Market fundamentals team is located in Singapore and Beijing and delivers research and consulting based on our assessment of Gas Market fundamentals.

The APAC markets team delivers world class Research, Data, Insight and Analysis including detailed regional and global market fundamentals analysis, macro industry trends, project and market events and corporate insights.

The Gas & LNG research practice at Wood Mackenzie leverages unique, proprietary information and modelling to serve clients, and together we work with a range of clients including national and major oil companies, operators, investment banks and institutional investors. This is a fantastic opportunity to make an impact.


About you and how you can excel in this role

You have either worked within a data, analytics or consulting business covering Gas & LNG, or have been directly involved in a commercial gas related role with an industry participant. You have deep industry knowledge and leadership skills to help develop and lead a team of talented analysts.

You are an experienced manager, having developed and led a high performing team within the energy industry. You are passionate about the Gas and LNG business and the rapidly changing energy market and have a track record in leadership and excellence.  

Your commercial and industry knowledge coupled with your people skills will enable you to define our ambition for our regional gas market offerings which help solve our client’s questions embedded with their workflows.

You can easily identify and size commercial opportunities, as well design and deliver a complex work programme. You possess sound commercial acumen and have led through change and business transformation.

About the role


You will lead a team of analysts and subject matter experts, based in Singapore and Beijing, producing world-class commercial data, analytics and insight. Specifically, you will be responsible for the efficient delivery of research and the development of the APAC Gas markets analysis. Your focus will be to lead and develop a team and deliver high quality commercial insight. You will foster an open, innovative and dynamic team environment where unconventional thinking is encouraged.


You will be able to prioritise what matters to clients and your team. Given your engagement with your network of senior-level clients and contacts, you will understand their business and priorities and translate that into valuable analysis and data. Internally, you will ensure team members improve workflow efficiency and the timeliness and quality of deliverables. You will also have the opportunity lead wider projects and new initiatives.


You will work collaboratively as part of the Gas Markets leadership team, to develop and implement a strategy identifying and capitalising on commercial opportunities both in region and across our global gas and LNG business.


You will also work with client management and consulting to generate new research, sales and consulting opportunities.
