Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic, experienced Product Director / Director, Product Management to lead the strategic direction of a large portfolio of commercially-successful products. This role is an integral part of a high-functioning and innovative team, and requires a unique blend of communication skills, leadership, business and technical savvy to create and execute a big-picture strategy.

 

You’ll take responsibility for a significant revenue stream and huge amounts of data, text, visualisations and geospatial information. You will lead and drive a programme of product enhancements, monitoring and owing return on investment, and communicating with a large and varied stakeholder group including senior management on a daily basis. You will also need to keep an eye on the broader corporate picture, as we transform our services, products and platforms, to ensure strategic fit.

 

The successful candidate will be a self-starter, be energised by a challenge, be passionate about bringing great products to market, and love the thrill of creating a new standard for what’s possible.

What you’ll do:

o   Overseeing Product Management, planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle, across a diverse Commodities portfolio:

  • Manage the definition of commercially impactful product enhancements, defining successful outcomes and working with Product teams to optimize value delivery;
  • Streamline related opportunities, identifying common capabilities and services;
  • Lead and communicate the creation of a roadmap of sequenced initiatives that incrementally build business and customer value; and
  • Work closely with internal groups to ensure that your portfolio strategy dovetails with our overall platform and capability strategy and that profitability and customer satisfaction goals are met.

o   Build Product capability within the organization

o   Be highly commercial in your thinking and care deeply about user experience relentlessly pursuing value by consistently communicating with users to understand what they do, the problems they have, and what they need to succeed.

o   Stay on top of industry trends, the competition and any constraints.

o   Make thoughtful, data-driven business decisions with minimal guidance, while scrutinising trade-offs and thriving on ambiguity.

o   Hold yourself and others accountable for achieving measurable positive results.

o   Track the performance of your portfolio, including revenue, efficiency gains, customer engagement and satisfaction, to assess whether your goals are being achieved.

o   Consistently and coherently communicate with internal stakeholders and senior management to build alignment and give visibility of the progress made.

Qualifications

o   Significant demonstrable Product Manager experience at least at Senior or Lead level

o   Experience of managing a complex multi-product portfolio

o   Advanced stakeholder communication skills, being able to bring them on board with your vision, and being able to break bad news gracefully

o   Previous experience in the natural resource or B2B information sectors would be helpful, but is not essential

o   Experience of frequent, meaningful customer engagements that led to positive commercial outcomes

o   A deep understanding of customer and business value and the ability to make smart trade-offs and prioritisation decisions

o   Agile, and iterative software product development expertise

o   Excellent oral and writing communication skills
