Job description

We are looking for a Senior Research Analyst to join our Commodity Analytics Oil Markets team in Houston.  Our Oils research team is a highly respected group of analysts producing market-leading research on the entire oil supply chain from crude supply through refining and fuels marketing to end-use demand. Together we work with our clients delivering an excellent service every day as we support them in their planning and decision-making processes.

About you and how you can excel in this role

You are curious and passionate about oil and energy industry and you have a desire to develop an in-depth understanding of the sector. You have an analytical mindset and an eye for detail, which has been proven in your academic and work experience to date. You are comfortable collecting and interpreting data, articulating your findings in a clear and insightful manner. You also have a flair for writing and communication. 

Your long-term aspiration is to be an influential subject matter expert setting the industry agenda. You are looking for a role where you can build on your existing knowledge and learn from others in a collaborative, commercial and client-centric environment. You also enjoy sharing what you have learnt with others.   

If you are looking to further build your network of clients and contacts in the industry, then this role will enable you to use your effective client engagement skills.

About the role

As part of a world-class team of experts, you will closely monitor and assess key events and commercial developments in oil markets, analyzing industry short- and long-term data. You will use this to produce high-quality research in the form of thought-provoking articles, presentations and reports. You will develop a unique perspective and understanding of the Oil market and downstream industry.

As part of our integrated and collaborative environment, you will provide analytical support to consulting engagements, support sales and work within cross-team projects. You will also be involved in promoting our employer brand at universities and other recruitment events.

You will become adept at evaluating geopolitical risk, policy changes, demand for energy, and other key issues that have a major impact on oil markets. You will also form opinions on corporate strategies, business environment, exploration, M&A deals, government energy policy and regional geopolitics. 

Through your research and responding to client queries, you will strengthen your network of contacts at key companies and bodies. You will develop a unique perspective and understanding of the oil industry. Your contribution to our industry-leading written reports, economic models and presentations will be valued. You will get the opportunity to travel.
