This research will focus on first the use of conventional blast devices then the fate of hazardous compounds released by the weapons (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) into the atmosphere. The outcome of the research will be used to model the expected weapon impacts for a large portfolio in terms of monetary cost associated with physical damage and human casualty. The candidate will work closely with a team of specialists to perform probabilitic risk assessment by various possible weapon attacks, and present and explain assessment results to technical and non-technical audiences including AIR clients and government officials.

A successful candidate should have a strong technical background in science, engineering, or mathematics, have a desire to solve challenging problems and grow expertise in new areas, and is expected to be a highly motivated, detail oriented, well organized, self-directed, and excellent team player.

Responsibilities (main responsibilities, but not limited to):

o    Simulate the impact of conventional blast and the estimation of monetary losses related to physical property and human damage considering various built environments
o    Simulating and evaluating the impact that hazardous compounds released into the atmosphere can have on physical property and human beings
o    Use the results of the above studies to develop solutions that can be used for portfolio risk assessment when the built environment and human population is subjected to weapon attacks
o    Represent AIR by explaining the deterministic probabilistic risk results of weapon attacks to internal and external clients including insurance organizations and government officials
o    Author technical writing for internal and external publications

Qualifications

o    Experience with 3D blast simulation, preferably on the built environment
o    Experience and/or knowledge of plume simulation related to the release of hazardous components in the atmosphere
