Job Description

We are currently looking for a Junior to Mid-level  Software Developer to join one of our teams responsible for developing software applications to support customer facing revenue generating applications.

Applications Knowledge

Applies major changes or develops new functions to an application.  Works closely with users and customers to develop the application.

Business Knowledge

Uses a basic understanding of business processes and iiX’s operations when developing programs.

Debugging

Researches and isolates the cause of any program failure and incorrect output.

Programming

Conducts the activities and tasks required to complete the programming phase.

System Analysis

Performs or participates on a team to perform the basic phases of analysis: independently on simple applications or in a team environment on advanced applications.

System Design

Performs the basic phases of design and participates on a team to perform system design independently on simple applications or in a team environment on advanced applications.

System Maintenance/ EnhancementConducts basic phases of system maintenance.  Participates in a team environment in the enhancement of application systems of moderate complexity.  Participates in redesign walk-throughs.

System Testing

Conducts testing. For subsystems across all platforms.   Participates in activities associated with system, function, and acceptance testing.

Client Service

Participates in and conducts meetings with end user.  Responds to planned and unplanned client requests without disruption in service level and keeps client informed.

Creativity

Demonstrates the willingness and ability to generate thoughtful, creative approaches to work

Other

Completes all responsibilities as outlined on annual Performance Plan.  Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Two to four years experience with Java desired, plus Relational Database experience in Oracle (including PL/SQL) or PostgreSQL (including PL/pgSQL), and experience using the Windows and/or Linux operating system.
  • High school and technical school training or equivalent college with degree desirable, preferably in Computer Science
  • Ability to work in a team environment and positively influence others to raise team productivity.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with end-users, staff and management to ensure mutual understanding of project requirements and ability to deliver presentations on system design.
  • Ability to prepare reports, specifications, documentation, and other written communications
  • Ability to stay abreast of technology trends and the impact on iiX products and services.  Ability to attend technology and industry seminars and other forums on a regular basis.
  • Fundamental understanding of the insurance industry and the ability to stay abreast of industry trends and competitors.
