Job Description

AIR Worldwide is looking for a highly motivated and experienced lead technical writer to join its Information Development team.

The lead technical writer will use analytical and project management skills to improve and develop documentation and user assistance for AIR’s suite of solutions. This motivated individual will help manage priorities for the product documentation team and will work closely with the software development, product management, model research, and client and consulting services teams. Additionally, the writer will have an opportunity to work closely with AIR’s user experience team, which also falls under the Information Development umbrella.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge and Skills:

·         7-10 years of direct experience authoring software documentation and user assistance, with demonstrated success in a collaborative environment.  You will have the opportunity to work with individuals across the company, including software architects, client consultants, and research scientists.

·         Experience leading projects, managing priorities and timelines. Motivation and ability to learn new technologies, manage multiple projects and shifting priorities, and meet deadlines.

·         Experience with managing people a plus.

·         Experience creating developer documentation, including API and database references.

·         Experience with XML, DITA, HTML, and CSS.

·         Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, source control systems, screen capture software, and content management systems.

·         Experience working on Scrum teams in an Agile development environment.

·         Understanding of structured authoring approaches and tools.

·         Understanding of topic-based authoring and minimalist writing.

·         Understanding of Cloud-based delivery systems.

·         Proactive and open-minded attitude to seeking out information and completing projects.

·         Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

·         Detail orientation.

·         Ability to update code snippets to provide examples highly desirable.

·         Experience customizing the DITA Open Toolkit highly desirable.

MA or BA/BS in Technical Writing and Communication, Computer Science, Physical or Life Science, or a related field. Advanced degree a definite plus
