Job Description

As a member of AIR, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving engagement with clients, prospects, and industry experts to gather requirements and manage delivery of products to serve marine and terrorism specialty lines. You will be responsible for communicating AIR’s vision of the market, and product roadmap.

The Senior Product Manager will define and lead the development of Touchstone tools and analytics to serve the diverse needs of our clients. The successful candidate will have demonstrated business experience in the insurance industry (insurance specialty lines like Terrorism, Marine, Builder’s risk etc.), a blend of business and technical skills, and the ability to manage features from start to finish.

 

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the effort to gather property insurance market information to support the modeling of natural catastrophes around the world.

·       Identify target clients for engagement.

·       Build relationships and partnerships with clients and prospects.

·       Conduct research to evaluate and develop an understanding of insurance practices in global markets.

·       Take responsibility for ensuring that insurance terms are accurately reflected in all of AIR’s catastrophe models.

  • Identify business opportunities for marine and terrorism specialty lines.
  • Keep on top of trends in the industry relating to the property insurance market.
  • Work directly with internal/external stakeholders and external customers to understand client workflows, product needs and become the “voice of the customer”.
  • Create product requirement documents (EPICs).
  • Perform market research and review the competitive landscape to identify product gaps as well as opportunities to improve product position in the market and identify strategic partners.
  • Develop technical expertise in understanding the use of features/models and performing sophisticated risk analyses using AIR's cutting-edge technology for insurers, brokers, and other financial intermediaries in the internationally expanding business of catastrophe risk management.
  • Support business development and regional offices with client product discussions, client issue escalation, questions and enhancement requests, including ongoing visits to existing and potential customers.
  • Advocate for PM best practices and process improvements.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of insurance industry experience
  • 3+ years working with CAT modeling products
  • 7+ years Product Management or product consulting, product owner, or business analyst experience with a proven record of releasing software products
  • Strong understanding of insurance and/or reinsurance industry use of catastrophe risk solutions and/or related features, including related exposure data, financial terms and catastrophe modeling workflows.
  • Business-oriented with strong technical acumen
  • Engage, drive, and support initiatives across multiple teams with passion and high energy
  • Ability to think strategically and relate to customers, senior management, and project/technical team members
  • Strong analytical skills, quantitative and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent presentation, public speaking and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and quick learner, with good prioritization and time management skills
  • Represent AIR at conferences and other industry events
  • Ability and willingness to travel (estimated at 20-30%)

Recommended Qualifications:

  • BS degree in technical (e.g., engineering, science, math, computer science, statistics or closely related program of study) or business fields.  Advanced degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies and design techniques is a plus
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus
