Job Description

We are looking for an experienced software engineer to join our Target Recognition and Advanced Exploitation (TRAX) Team in our Lexington, MA office.  In this role you will design and implement innovative data exploitation technologies that support target recognition requirements for the Department of Defense.  To be successful in this position, you should possess practical background and experience in computer vision and/or machine learning approaches as well as a commitment to excellence and the desire to push technology to the next level.  You should also possess proven software development and testing skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with scientists and engineers developing algorithms to exploit data from multiple sensor modalities and platforms. 

Daily activities will require an individual to be able to multi-task, performing both software development tasks as well as algorithm development and analysis tasks in support of the development of target recognition capabilities.

  • Work independently as well as collaboratively with members of the TRAX Team to develop, implement, and assess algorithmic approaches performing target recognition and related capabilities
  • Generate and/or modify software that implements algorithmic approaches that are formulated to meet or exceed program objectives
  • Generate materials that serve to document developed approaches and to brief our customers on those approaches

Qualifications

You should possess a degree in computer science, or in the physical sciences or mathematics with a strong computer science emphasis.   You possess a demonstrated ability to develop quality software for science or engineering applications and to rapidly learn new problem domains and software technology.  Strong technical and communication skills, teamwork, and problem solving in a fast-paced R&D environment are also required. 

The following skills are required:

  • Strong C++ programming skills in a Linux environment
  • Demonstrated background in all phases of the software development cycle including requirements, design, implementation and test
  • Proficiency in configuration management principles and software version control tools such as Subversion
  • Demonstrated competency in software development supporting computer vision, scientific, or engineering applications

The following are desired:

  • Proficient use of software development tools, such as MATLAB, to support rapid prototyping
  • Proficient use of Python programming language
  • Background in high performance computing and code optimization, including experience in multi-threading and the employment of GPUs in embedded systems
  • Experience with real-time multi-bounce ray tracing techniques and applications
  • Experience in data simulation and deep learning algorithms
  • Image analysis of sensor data types that include EO, IR, SAR and LADAR
  • DoD Secret level clearance
